“Nowhere near the city centre”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I stayed in this hotel in July 2011, I pulled up and actually thought we may have been lost, as it looked like we were in some kind of industrial area, unfortunately this was just the location of the boat!
The rooms themselves were tiny and bare, with a bathroom equally as tiny and bare. I felt like I was in the D class of a cruise boat. I could have lived with all of this, as I prefer not to spend to much time in my hotel when on holidays.
The location, I was not bearable for me. We had to wait for the ferry (which only came every half an hour) to get anywhere close to civilisation. My friends and I ended up having to run through Amsterdam in the rain, so that we didn't miss the last ferry at 12am. If you miss this, you have to catch two buses that take you completely out of the way, before actually getting back to where you need to go. I don't even want to know how much longer this journey would take. If you are young and want to stay out and explore Amsterdam at night, and not be forced to come home at 12 am, this is not for you

“Budget Holiday”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Me and my partner went with another couple to celebrate my 21st birthday, we mainly choose the botel as we were looking for a budget hotel and liked the idea of staying on a boat.

yes, it is very basic but you get what you pay for. we spent £150 each for flights and hotel for a 3 day trip and i personally think that's pretty good value for money!

the staff were friendly and the rooms VERY basic (but also clean) but altogether we weren't there to spend too much time on the boat!

the top deck is nice in the sunshine, chilling on a hammock with the tiny mini fridge that they call a bar!

my only quibble was that it was sold for being close to the city centre but actually you have to get a ferry (free) across the river. this is fine if you are planning on coming back at around 12am but if you are looking at staying out later you have to try and catch the bus - we ended up jumping on the wrong one and the bus driver took pity on us and dropped us as close to the boat!

i'd recommend this for a group of friends looking at staying somewhere a little different and aren't too fussed about the rate of the room and are much more looking at enjoying all that Amsterdam has to offer ;)

“Go directly to Jail – do not pass Go, do not collect £200 !”

This is without doubt the worse place I have ever had the misfortune to stay in !!! It was like stepping aboard a prison ship. The rooms were like something out of a mental asylum. The decor was awful. Bland to the point of no return ! The pitiful bathroom...( if you can actually categorise it as one ) was so diabolical that it was probably more hygenic to go without a shower rather than to step onto the filthy shower tray and turn on the trickling drip of the cold shower whilst desperately trying to avoid skin contact with the mould ridden shower curtain ! I can only assume that anyone who has rated this place 2 stars or more, clearly spent a huge amount of time on their trip in one of the cafes and was therefore in no fit state to notice and therefore give any kind of factual review !!!

“there are much better options”

I picked this hotel as a holiday's package. I thought it would be near the city center, but totally wrong. You need to get a ferry which is free, good point, but you depend on the timetable during your hole trip. It takes easily 30 min to get near the center and it is impossible to go back to the hotel for a rest. If you leave it, make sure you will not need to come back until the end of your day.

The hotel simply has no personality. If what you are looking for is the little extra touches, here you will find nothing like that. They let you leave your bags upon arrival, which is a nice touch. But there is a lot of minus. The hotel restaurant only opens for breakfast and around the boat there is nothing else but a bar(not very cheap). Internet cost a fortune (which I never understood since the other restaurant has it free). When we checked in to our room the duvet cover was inside out and the bin dirty. I though during the stay someone would fix it, but never happened. The worst was the boat moving all the time. I ended up feeling seasick during the hole trip. If you are a little bit sensible, do not recommend the experience.

Room Tip: the higher the better as you can hear sometimes the boat sqeezing with the dock.

“Waking up with the sound of the river”

Perhaps the nearest hotel to Amsterdam Centraal, where trains from airport arrive. It was very romantic to live on a boat and to feed seagulls in the morning. The room was a bit small but clean. We stayed here in October and it was very cold in the city - but in the hotel there was not cold at all. Breakfast was good. Wi-fi speed is low(((. And a staff on reception is not very qualified - they withdrawed money from my card twice!
