“Good price, location, service, friendliness”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2011

A pleasant room overlooking the canal at a really good price. Located equidistant between the railway station and the Rikjsmuseum/Van Gogh Museum, it's really handy for all you need to do and see in the city. A 20 minute stroll from the railway station. Staff are helpful, and the breakfast is continental and you help yourself, with a late finish which is great for sleepyheads.

“I hope I will never have to experience anything like that”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2010

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights over a weekend. At the night of Saturday upon Sunday we went out and came back around 4:00 AM. We could not open the door. The keycard worked, but the door was stuck. There was nobody at the front desk to open the door even the reception should be open 24h. We had to wait one hour outside in the cold (-2 and wind) and could not reach someone from the reception. After one hour the night receptionist came back and he promised them to stay longer then the official check-out time. Also he promised them that he will tell everything to the morning receptionist and that the problem would be solved.

The morning receptionist did not know anything about this matter and could not help us. We would the last night to be refund. Only the manager can decide about this. Unfortunately she was not reachable before 4.00 PM. After 5 days, we are still waiting for her reply. After many phone calls and research on the Internet I called another hotel (the name of the hotel was a part of her email address) and called her. She answered nicely and when I asked her about this situation she was almost laughing at me and telling that she didn't have time to take care of that.

I also would like mention, that pictures of this hotel you can find on their website, or other booking sites, are far away from the true. The eating room was very dirty and a glass door to the terrace were broken. First snow freezing cold was coming in all day long. The hotel is also very noisy and you can hear your neighbors conversation. When anyone in the hotel takes a shower, even you are in bed, it sounds like you having a shower with them.

Horrible experience, I hope I will never have to deal with such a bad service ever.

“Never ever spent money in this overpriced, dirty hotel. if you do they rip you off”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2010

The hotel is overpriced, dirty, smelly and we had a fly crawling inside the breakfast bread. I had a confirmation for 90 Euros a night but I was overcharged me 40 Euros on my bill at check in. 10 min after check in I found out and went back to reception. I was told this is how they confirm but rates are changing in the weekend. I complained as i was not told this at any point. The receptionist told me she had to speak to her manager. Over the weekend I returned several times but I had to wait for the manager. At check out I was finally told that the money would be transferred back in my account. I never got the money back!!!

“Overpriced, dirty, and dismal”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

We booked this hotel on the advice of a friend, who obviously stayed there before the new owners took over in 2005, and it appears this hotel has not been maintained at all since then. From the outside, the hotel looks like a cheap hostel, and the inside isn't any better. Our room was dirty, with stains in the carpet and cigarette burns on the ancient vinyl armchair, and it was deemed a 'triple room' by the addition of a cot in the sitting area. The actual bed was practically on the floor, and both the bed and the cot were lumpy and uncomfortable. Worst of all, these were both infected with bedbugs! We woke up with bites all over us. The room was hot, even though the weather outside was pleasantly cool, and we couldn't open the windows because there were no screens to keep out the mosquitos, though they got in through the one window that wouldn't shut all the way. No one got a good night's sleep, and we cut our three nights down to two because the hotel was so repellent. We tried to get out of it completely, but couldn't get a refund for more than the third night and therefore couldn't afford to stay at another, nicer hotel (which we found down the street for almost the same price!). The breakfast was poor, and the breakfast room was dirty. The staff were icy and unhelpful upon our arrival, though they did warm up a bit later. The one bright spot was the bathroom, which looked like it belonged in a different hotel, it was so much nicer than the room. There were broken windows on the second floor, and while there was free internet, the wi-fi didn't reach our room (reception's answer: 'Yes, it only works near the lobby') and the computer for guest usage didn't have a keyboard (apparently, the keyboards keep getting stolen!), so we had to type by clicking on letters with the mouse. Since we were there on a Monday and Tuesday, the noise from the nightclub next door was not too disturbing, and the location was fairly central, but my one piece of advice is not to book this hotel! Don't let this hotel ruin your trip to Amsterdam!

“disgusting hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2010

On arrival we were met by a very pleasant gentleman. First impression of rooms were ah well its somewhere to sleep. Went out for the evening on return to our rooms we took time to have a little look around. bedding was clean, no remote control for tv, curtains hanging off curtain rail, lampshade broken, carpets dirty, both bedrooms dirty. The whole hotel is falling to bits. On taking breakfast in the morning, there was no breakfast tea, and the breakfast was of a very poor standard. staff were very rude. On leaving the hotel the following day, my daughter and her friend were covered in bites which we believe were from bed bugs. Do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Be warned. £50.00 per night per person.
