To be honest, my main concern when booking this hotel was to be close to the center. However, not being interested in the "dark" side of Amsterdam, I was a bit weary of the possible noise/area. And looking at some of the reviews, it seemed like the hotel could do with a little refurbishing... nothing further from the truth: the hotel staff was very pleasant and professional from arrival to departure. The room (210) was spacious, clean and quiet, with all the basic needs covered (tea making facility, shower gel & shampoo in bathroom, minifridge, etc..). About 2 blocks away from the train station, with plenty of places to visit and to eat out. (highlyrecommend Wok to Walk, 1 block away: excellent food and prices). I'll certainly be going back to this hotel on my next trips to Amsterdam.

Beautiful rooms, but quite expensive for Amsterdam.

We were looking for a clean, reasonably priced, centrally located hotel for 2 nights in January 2012 and that is literally what we got. The room was up a tiny, thin (typical Amsterdam) old staircase and we were in an almost "attic" up from the second floor. It wasn't easy climbing up that staircase with luggage! .. The room was a little depressing (small, a little like a box) but it was clean and the beds were ok (although the bottom sheets were too small for the mattresses. We looked right out the back onto the old church where the bells chimed constantly every 15 minutes - but maybe it was because we were very tired - but they really didn't bother our sleeping at all.

Location wise it was excellent (if looking for a central location) ... everything in Central Amsterdam was a short walk away.

If I wanted to spend more I would have of course preferred a more upmarket hotel - but for what we paid, for the location we were in and for what we were looking for in our 2 nights it was fine ..

Stayed one night and can not recommend it. The room smelled and the bed sheet was dirty. The overalle impression was bad. maybe ok if you are backpacking but the price of 70Euro is way too much
