“Extremley Overpriced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

Stayed here beginning of July when attending the White Sensation party at the Arena. Paid £270 for 2 nights , an utterly exorbitant price for 2 nights in this hotel. Very average and an extremley dated hotel. One of the men working at the front desk was border line obnoxious to boot.
I paid extra for a late check out from my room as i had a late flight on the Sunday evening. Then on the day i was leaving i was told i had to vacate my room and move to another room to suit these guys. Obviosuly this was purely to suit their cleaning schedule. Not acceptable.

I was locked out of a room with all my stuff during this changeover (completely hungover and tired) while i waited for the extremley rude man on desk to get me a working Door card. (Initial one did not work so i had to come all the way back down the lift and wait in reception while this was sorted. This took the guts of an hour for this imbicile to do. Will never stay here again.

“Bumped without warning”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

We arrived at the Omega early in the morning from the ferry to drop off our bags. When we returned later in the afternoon to check in (we couldn't check in earlier), we were told we had been bumped to another hotel. No apologies, and when offered a room at the Omega to share between three (as opposed to the two rooms we had booked and paid for), we were offered only a 25% reduction in charges. We were told the sister Hotel Belfort was just a good (which if you see the reviews of the Belfort you'll see is not a positive), and was just as close to the centre (which wasn't true).

Even if we had been given rooms, we'd have been disappointed as the hotel was undergoing substantial renovations which meant a stay would not have been very pleasant. I cannot comment on the quality of the rooms, as we never saw them. But the service culture was non existent.

“Too expensive!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

The room was not very big and dusty (telephone, TV, mirror, pictures). 2 lamps beside my bed did not work. They could repair one. Bad lightning in general. Tiny bathroom (when I bent to the wash-basin, I burned my backside at the heater).
The breakfast was rather poor (very good coffee, but only one type of sausage, one type of cheese, green scrambled eggs, bacon and hot sausages, cornflakes, jam and 3 types of juice).

The plus of this hotel is the very friendly stuff, that it was very quiet and that it is situated in a very nice region (near the Vondel Park, the Concertgebouw and the big museums)
For 180.--€ a night it was too expensive.

Room Tip: Are there really good ones?

“You get what you pay for”

The Omega Hotel is in a really good location for the Museums and picking up the tram to get into the centre of the city. The Hotel itself is an average Hotel, the room we had was large enough but it could have been cleaner and definitely needed a lick of paint as it looked tired and shabby. Having said that, the bed was comfortable (but not the pillows these were rock hard and not good for sleeping on) and the shower was hot. The staff at the Hotel were polite and helpful and let us leave our bags in the reception area until we were ready to pick them up late afternoon. The breakfast room was not very inspiring, dark tables and chairs it reminded me of my old refectory at school, although the breakfast items were okay, bread, croissants, jams, cheese and ham, but avoid the scrambled eggs and sausages, just awful. Oh, and one thing to mention is the church clock which chimes every half an hour, it added something to the stay but not to your sleep.
Would not stay at this Hotel again but certainly would stay in the area which was lovely. For nice food and drink and a very cheery welcome try Gruter Bar just round the corner right by the tram stop.

Room Tip: Our room looked over the garden which was pleasant.
