Small cosy hotel in a good location 10-15 minutes walk to key attractions. We stayed here a year ago but I still remember the delightful staff. Norman and his gorgeous wife were lovely and helpful, including to go out of their way to make my Mum - who was staying at another hotel -feel comfortable when she dropped in to see us while we weren't there. We're currently traveling again and I felt compelled to write a review for Heemskerk almost 12 months later - I think that says volumes!

Small hotel with a great location, right behind the concert hall in Museumplein, quiet street, very close to Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum.

Our room was very small, as are so many European hotel rooms, but had all the amenities needed to be comfortable. Staff was very helpful.

Several good ethnic restaurants are within a 10-15 minute walk, however there's not much to find nearer to the hotel. Front desk can point you to a restaurant fitting your taste/budget.

The Heemskerk is a small but comfortable hotel near the main museums in Amsterdam. It is some way out of the main central area, but that means the area is quiet and pleasant. As some earlier visitors have said, the hotel is small, but the website makes it clear when you book. It is also not an international chain hotel with 24 hour reception etc, but again, that is made clear on the website so you know what to expect.

The stairs are very steep, but this is common in Amsterdam buildings.

My room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay.

Yeah, big up the Heemskerk, there this January, nice place, it is small, but they say that upfront, I stayed in the single for 3 days and the VSmall Double for 2, The staff are excellent, Norman was only there the 2nd time, but Nicholas helped with everything I needed. Good stuff, check the Cafe Lusthof for dinner, very near to De Graal c/s, HIGHly recommended.
