The location is ideal as it is located near the city centre. Nevertheless, tyoical of hotels in amsterdam, the lifts are small and staircase too steep. Ask for a room at lower levels. The bed was excellent though after a hard day of walking.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights.
The hotel is quiet (except the tram noise all over the day). The beds are confortable, the rooms are clean. The towels were very much used, but well washed (clean).
The breakfast is poor and the same every morning: one sort of ham, one soft of salamy, one sort of cheese. There was also 2 sorts of jam. Butter, joghurt, and 2 types of bread. They also serve boiled eggs, omlette and bacon. No vegetables of any kind. Coffee on a machine and milk. They also serve 2 kind of juices.
The staff is pretty nice, except a tall reception guy with glasses, who has nothing to do with the calling of hotel occupations. He wasn't rude, but arrogant and not customer oriented (when I checked in, I had to wait more than 2 minutes -which is too much- until he finished a private phone conversation).
I would give to this hotel maximum 2 stars (grades). It does not deserve 3, as they claim.

We had a spacious room right at the top of the hotel, Room 40.The room was bright and airy, with long windows on either side. Being at the back of the hotel, there was not much of a view (various scruffy rooftops) but it meant that the room was well away from any street noise. The bed was large and very comfortable and the bathroom was first-class.

The buffet breakfast was excellent - scrambled egg and bacon was the cooked option and there was lots of the usual selection of cereals, fruit juices, cheese, cold meats, bread, croissants etc. Breakfast coffee from a machine is usually disappointing, but the machine they have here gives you excellent coffee. They have a similar machine in the lobby.

The hotel is located just behind Dam Square and a 10-minute walk from Centraal Station, Most of the things you are likely to want to see in Amsterdam are within walking distance, but the hotel is also on a busy tramline.

If you have been to Amsterdam before and you would like to do something different, a recommended trip is a visit to the small village of Zaantse Schans. This village is only four stops on the train from Centraal Station, out into the Dutch countryside. There you can get a wonderful view of a number of working windmills along the canal and you can explore a small settlement of traditional Dutch houses, including a cheesemakers, a clogmakers and various small shops and cafes.

Having been in Amsterdam several times before and stayed in different hotels, I would definitely stay in the Nova Hotel next time.

Large rooms, huge bed, ours was at the front of the hotel with good view. Buffet breakfast was excellent, cereals, cold meats etc, eggs, bacon, fruit, rolls, cakes..enough to satisfy most tastes i guess.

The location is excellent, just a few yards to Dam square and very close to 2 tram stops.. Dam Square and Spui.

The Staff were very friendly and helpful, as were everyone we met in Amsterdam.

Would stay here again.
