The location of this hotel is excellent. Reception is helpful and courteous. The rooms are first class. You could not wish for a better bar. The Cafe is a superb Art Nouveau spectacular - when it is open - and therein lies the problem. During our stay it was closed for a private function without residents being informed. The weather outside was a blizzard and the only offering was a limited menu in the bar which is notbreally adequate - great bard - dinner, no!!!

Communication is the big problem. Information in the room was wrong about quite a few things. That said, they are going through change at present and it may all settle down. The enthusiasm of the staff will show through.

for not sleeping but just have a bite and some coffee and drinks in the Cafe , i felt that the staff has a big attitude towards their guests. Its a pitty beceause its a nice hotel on a beautifull central location. But because off the staff my experience is not good and I dont like to come back any more. Fifteen minutes wait to get your drinks (coffee and wine) is way to long!

This is a beautiful hotel located on the edge of the center of Amsterdam. It's located right outside of the Leidseplein. The staff was very polite and helped us out several times. The hotel is easy walking distance to much of the old city. It's also right by a Canal Bus stop and a tram stop.

Our room was small, but very well appointed. It was also very clean. We lacked much of a view, but since we didn't spend much time in the room, that was not a big deal.

The onsite restaurant, the Café Americain, was very good as well.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Amsterdam.

The hotel is Art Deco style and so may not be to everyone's taste. Our room was small but comfortable, nothing special. Apparently many top entertainment stars have stayed at the hotel so I'm assuming there are more impressive rooms in the hotel. We didn't visit the bar or eat in the hotel but heard good reviews about both. The hotel is just next to the Leidseplein square which is lively at the weekend. There are dozens and dozens of places to eat all within 10 minutes walking distance. Everyone speaks English. Trams 1,2 and 5 all stop next to the hotel and they will all take you to the main railway station. From there it's a 20 minute train ride to the airport. The hotel is 10 mins walk from the Van Gogh museum in one direction and the Anne Frank house in the other. Would be happy to go back.
