“Crap”

Fancy hotel, high price, however you'll get only crapy service and cold room. The service was really unbelieveble, everything was an issue. Last day they have by mistake already blocked my card and I had to stay 15mins in the elevator and wait for somebody to come. Nice restaurant, but no real organisation. The only benefit, you're directly in the city center, but for sure there are better places where to stay

“Beside the view of the room 3026, the hotel is a bad choice!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

As a travel maniac, I have been all around the World and mostly in 5* hotels. I have to say this hotel is far away from 5* expect its location and the view from our room. The building is old and not looked after well, the staff is okay, but not really friendly. When I arrived there was nobody in front of the hotel to help me with the luggages. The corridors looks like in the '60's. As well as the design-if you can call it design at all! The bathroom is a disgrace! The toilet and the shower doors are looks like if you were staying in a summer school camp. The lighting is terrible, hardly can see anything, not really good for any makeup, unless you want to look like a clown by painting everything 2-3 cm's away from its places. The bathroom beauty supplies are very week and they smell terrible. There is no conditioner and the soap is sooo tiny, that it melts away after 2 minutes. The room (3026) was overheated, felt like in a sauna, and can't really do anything about it, cos the heating system is old like hell. The water from the shower sometimes burning you and in the other minute it is freezing cold. The only TWO GREAT THINGS about the hotel is the location of it and the view from the room. Other then that nothing! If you get used to luxury travel, this is NOT YOUR PLACE! If you get used to 3 starts hotels, but looking for a great location and a STUNNING view, well, you must come here. The so called king size bed was two twins pushed together....I am really disappointed, especially as we came here to celebrate my Spouse's 40th Birthday.....We payed 10 EUR for the wifi internet which is not working, or if it does, it is sooo slow like a snail, you can't do anything with it at all. DO NOT BUY THAT!

Room Tip: Regarding the view: 3026 The room is old with an old smell, but the view is worth to suffer!

“Great service, centrally located, very accommodating with special requests!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012 via mobile

My husband and I stayed here for 2 months for work. Staying in a hotel for that kind of time frame is rough no matter what, but this hotel went out of their way to make it feel like home. We had to check out for a few days at a time to travel for work elsewhere and every time we checked back in, they gave us the same great room and welcomed us by name without even looking at the reservation. Michael the Manager, is hands down, the nicest person I have ever worked with in a hotel. He reserved the same room for us every time, helped us with all of our business centre stuff, drycleaning, car service, gave us special chocolates to celebrate Sinter Klauss and also gave us a poem explaining how the Dutch celebrate Christmas. It's the little things that make the biggest difference!

As for the hotel itself, service was always great. The location is perfect for those wanting to be in the middle of it all. It can be a bit noisy on the street at night, as well as, with other hotel patrons on their balconies in the hotel. But it's to be expected when you're in the middle of Amsterdam.

We will absolutely be coming back to Amsterdam and staying at the Krasnapolsky!

“Why all the complaints?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Having read the trip advisor reviews, like so many people do now prior to any excursion, I was a bit anxious.
But why? I arrived half an hour early (I was fully aware of the check in times) and was greeted by a very friendly young Dutch chap. He offered me a free upgrade without me even asking or for an extra £££ the option to upgrade to a suite. I took the free upgrade but not the suite. I originally book a single and was upgraded to a double.
Now if this is what they call a double in Holland I'll come and live here. I am 6 foot 7inch, so struggle to fit in ANY bed, but I couldn't try and make my feet fall out of this bed. HUGE!!
The room was great, clean and well appointed. I couldn't fault this hotel. The location is fantastic and breakfast was vast.
Faultless. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Amsterdam.

“Dam sure it's a good place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

THis hotel, located right on Dam Square in Amsterdam, is a superb palce for a base of operations as you explore the city. Trams run right through the Square and take you anywhere you wish. We went all the way to The Hague and back one day after having seen all of Amsterdam we wanted to. Our only complaint is that breakfast was served in the rear of the lobby of the hotel. This didnt' feel quite right to us. Our room, however, was very good and quiet for sleeping. We would return again.
