“Well situated- well run- very welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We qualified for an upgrade and had a room facing the Canal on the second floor. Rooms not big but perfectly adequate. Very comfortable bed. Very good complimentary coffee and hot chocolate from a machine in the foyer which was most welcome as it was very cold in Amsterdam when we were there and all the canals had frozen over. Breakfast at the hotel is expensive so we had croissants and coffee in cafes nearby, and watched the world go by. As citycentre hotels go, it is good value in my opinion.

Room Tip: You pay more for a canal view but worth it, after all you are staying in 'the Venice of the Nort...

We stayed 4 nights courtyard facing room. The room size was large with great layout in room and bathroom. Would love to stay here again.

“Good but noisy”

Loved the location, the great spacious lobby with lounge areas, the coffee machine, cookies. Loved the room we were given at first, a huge orange room right above the front door. The room had three sets of huge windows. But we had to move as it was really loud at night. We could hear people outside going in and out of the front door and also, smoking outside and we could smell it in the room. Also, the room was right next to internal main stairwell with old squeaky floors. And even I used the earplugs to sleep I still could hear the stairwell vibration. People run up and down and it sounds like horses migration in the open field. We moved to the top floor but the room was not nice. It was very small, with little window (it was an attic room) and no place to lounge. So we did not get lucky with the room but I loved the hotel and its location. And, best of all they have the coolest cat which I had a pleasure petting every night. It made my day!

Room Tip: Pick a room away from the main stairwell if you're a light sleeper. You will hear and feel the v...

“For a city hotel - just gorgeous.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

For a city hotel - just gorgeous. That is: smart, thoughtful, a discreet luxury :)
Aquarium at the reception desk - simply fascinating :)
The library and living room downstairs next to the tea room - coffee machine, coffee and tea available all day for free (it is in the city, then the hotel!).

All rooms are decorated differently. As far as I've seen - at least on my floor - no two have the same wallpaper, consequently, curtains / blankets / pillows / chandeliers are all different :) Since the decoration of the room is designed in the same style. Love and the owner and staff of the hotel felt everywhere - from first to last floor.

In the breakfast room a lot of orchids - at least, was at that time.

Hotel in the center, up to 4 stops of tram station.
