The hotel has an OK location. It's a bit far from most of the nightlife, although there are a couple of bars within a couple of blocks of the hotel. The area is incredible noisy with drunks at night, and the sound of the trams all day and into the night as well. Despite what their website says, this hotel is not renovated. The pictures on the website, maybe they were a different, more expensive room, but the rooms and spaces I saw were NOTHING like the pictures showed.
The shared bathroom wasn't cleaned once during my 4 night stay and didn't look clean upon my arrival either. The general housekeeping was lacking due to being understaffed; the housekeeper knocked on my door one morning to inform me that he didn't have time to clean all the rooms that day, so he exchanged my towels and left me with a dirty room.
As for the staff, the housekeeper was from Brazil and didn't speak the best english, but he was the most friendly of all the staff. The guy with the hat was friendly enough, but would only suggest one place for nightlife (which happened to be a sleazy sex club two doors down from the hotel). The longer haired guy was rude in all ways.
I don't mind to pay a premium for a gay hotel, but I expect to receive tips about the local gay life in return for that premium. I think this hotel suggests the bar down the street to try to convince you that they are in a good location for nightlife (they aren't). If you want to walk to the better nightlife, you'll be walking 20+ minutes to arrive.
