The hotel is a bit basic, our room was not luxurious but large (a double bed and a single bed, an assortment of chairs we didn't sit in), comfortable and clean. There were loads of towels in the bathroom and it was clean and the shower was spacious. There was an ice machine down the hall, which we were very grateful for as we stayed during a heatwave. Our room was unbearably hot, but I think that was just unfortunate because of the amazing weather. I'm not sure if air conditioning is standard in Amasterdam as the weather there is quite similar to the UK I think. We were on the Spuistraat side of the hotel, so it was a little noisy until 1 or 2 in the morning.
The location was fantastic though, it's a short walk to all the central sights of Amsterdam. On one side you've got the busy, touristy Dam Square area and on the other canals and trendy nine streets and Jordaan.
We had a hard time finding a hotel in Amsterdam. Although there were cheaper options, all the hotels had bad reviews and the ones that were good were overbooked or over our budget.
We paid 200 euros for a night in a tiny room which was relatively clean and just with the basic stuff, but as they said in previous reviews, there is a humid and old smell in the common areas.
My husband and I believe the location of this hotel is really good, you can easily get to the most important sites and it is in a nice and safe area. There is an Asian restaurant almost in front of it that is really delicious and it takes around 20 minutes to get there from the airport by shuttle.
We had a nice view from our room, but we decided to use it only to sleep a few hours, because it was just basic and not necessarily comfortable.
The staff was ok to us, but they were arguing all the time among them and we had to listen to the attention they gave to some customers while we were waiting in the lobby. They seemed exhausted and in a bad mood to attend the inquiries of a guest.
We stayed in 5 different hotels in our trip to France and Italy and we got much better attention and in some cases prices in the others and if we compare the hotels where we paid around 250 euros in other cities, they had nothing to be with this particular one.
Stayed for one night in this NH hotel which is centrally located and easy to find.Check in was very slow while people argued over their bookings but not the fault of the receptionists. Rooms are TINY but for one person are actually very cosy. Didn't have breakfast. Free wifi in the lobby but you only have 30 minutes usage of it. When you consider the hotel prices in Amsterdam this is shocking. Even budget hotels have wifi available through the building!
On the plus side, a good nights sleep, centrally located and not the most expensive hotel in Amsterdam.
The location of this hotel is optimal if you intend to see the central part of the city. You will within 20 minutes walk rech all sights. The rooms are basic with comfortable beds.
