When we booked this through booking.com, we didn't read the reviews. Few days after, I had the time to check it out. Imagine my worries after I've read all the reviews here. There was even photos which were really disturbing!!! Though, it was taken last year, the fact that someone had experience that was troubling me. I promised myself that no matter what I experienced with this hotel, I will write about it.
We arrived at the airport and took the train to Oud Zuid (only one-stop). From there (where WTC is located), we took a bus and alight in Stadionweg (two-stop). From there, 10 mins. walk and we reached the hotel. It sounds complicated but it wasn't. I was already debating with my husband that we will be waiting because as I've read from the reviews, Wyndham doesn't allow early check-in. But thanks God, I was wrong. We arrived at the hotel and assisted by Mr. Stan Straver (I believed that he's Assistant Manager). We were check-in in no time. It was fast and simple. We had a small talk and told him few things about what I read. He said that they are doing their best. He mentioned that we are indeed lucky to have a renovated room and that we have chosen the canal view. They are fully booked that time because of Queen's Day and had to send few guests to other sister hotels. We had our room on the 5th floor and was very glad to have our room. The view was fantastic, everything was clean. The bed was absolutely comfortable. The following day, we decided to book a tour (at the hotel) to Keukenhof. We asked at the reception and he (guy 1) directed us to the concierge (guy 2) which is literally just beside him. The concierge was attending to another guest so we waited which was fine. He went out to further assists the guest who he was attending to. Guy 1 came and asked us, where did he go? I told him that guy 2 is still assisting to the guest. What is actually bothering was there was no one checking in and they were 3 people at the reception (Guy 1 and 2 Ladies) who are just talking to each other. This is actually a very good example of bad service. They can give an extra miles service but they chose not to. Unfortunately, I didn't get their names. But I didn't wanted that to spoil my day. The concierge came back and make the reservation for us. Everything went well. The third day (Queen's Day), we were so hungry after a long day and asked the reception. Unfortunately, the hotel restaurant is closed that day. David Pintelon gave us few suggestions. He was really great. He was actually doing something and stopped to attend to us. That is what you called service and attitude unlike his colleagues. Anyway, we went back to our room and decided to have a room service since we were really tired. The food wasn't extravagant but it was good. It was fresh and actually nice. I gave this hotel a very good rating based on what we have experienced. I hope that they improve everyday. We were lucky to have a renovated room and I couldn't imagine it if we had the old, dirty and dirty looking room. Though I had a great experience, I hope that management/owners will look into their maintenance in order to have their room presentable and in order to change the negative to positve reviews. It is 4 star, afterall. I can't fault the staff with this issue but maintenance and attitude are two things. I used to work in the hotel. Though, I didn't have a bad experience with the hotel, I still have my observations. I certainly hope that staff will be more alert, helpful, polite and offer an extra mile service. We are certainly thankful to Stan Straver and David Pintelon. I just hope that I got and spelled their names right. I will recommend this hotel. I've attached some photos of our experience.
