“Business becomes pleasure with Alex”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2011

I stayed one night on a business trip. But the moment Alex opens her door you feel at home. I had the back room which was spacious and clean. The large room though is worth the extra money. There you have an excellent view over the canal.
If you, like me, are lucky then you get a glimpse of Alex' cooking qualities. She also runs a cooking school and I smelled how good she can cook!
I felt at home while on a business trip. Great job Alex!

Room Tip: Book the large room

“Quirky, Quaint, and Quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2011

Our family of 5 stayed in both of the rooms upstairs for one night on our way to Germany. The stairs are quite steep, and that's what made this lovely B&B quaint. The quirky factor was that the shower was one step away from the dryer as the laundry was in the same room. But, quiet our room certainly was, and we had a wonderful night's rest on a great bed. The room allowed our teen age son to sleep on a smaller bed in the same room. The sink in the room was handy, since there was only one very small bathroom on the floor. There are two nice restaurants directly across the canal from the B&B. I wish I could recall the names of these restaurants because one place had the best crostini. The location is perfect for catching the streetcar to take you 5 minutes to the train station. In the morning before we caught our train, we had a really nice conversation with the man who provided us with a superb breakfast with everything you could ask for.

“Excellent B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2011

A clean, spacious place. Breakfast was excellent. The hostess, Alex, was kind enough to cook us american breakfast (w/ fried eggs & sausages) when she learnt that we liked that more in our casual conversations. She was also very helpful in providing travel tips and suggestions. The house is next to a canal, and the bigger room has a view over the canal where we saw swans and ducks! While the B&B is not in the centre of Ams, it is not far from the town centre either, less than 10 min by tram. There are nice, cozy coffee place and restaurants in the area too.

“Excellent B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2011

My husband and I visited the B&B after Christmas with our two daughters (11 and 8). Alex, our host, was simply wonderful! She was very friendly - in particular, our girls engaged with her immediately and she even let them help her in the kitchen. The rooms are large and bright, the beds are very comfortable, and the premises are very clean. Our room was very well equipped with a coffee, tea, wine, and even nuts and fruit. From the house, we were able to walk into town to visit the Van Gogh and the Rijks museums. The tram is also very conveniently located. All and all, a wonderful visit. We certainly recommend and will return ourselves if we are again in Amsterdam.

“Great B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2010

The second time we've visited Amsterdam and chosen this Bed&Breakfast.

Very nice hosts, a familiar atmosphere and a very good, lavish breakfast.

The rooms are big, equipped with the best beds in whole Amsterdam (2.20m length), flatscreen TV, full broadband internet (for free).

The bathroom is clean, functional in every way and the view out of the front windows great (directly toward the well-known A'dam canals).

The hosts are very nice and helpful in every way, doesn't matter if it's for questions regarding the city, the public transport, outlet shopping or cooking.

Next stop in Amsterdam will be planned with a stop at the Transvaalkade ;-)

Thanks again for this wonderful stay in Amsterdam.
