“Stay away unless you like to be hustled”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

We stayed at the Angel Canal House for 4 days. Upon arrival, things somewhat seemed normal. However, we soon discovered the water system in the apartment didn't work properly. The next day the lock on the door faulted leaving us out of the apartment for several hours. Contacting the reception we were told that they would send a guy; "should be there in 10 minutes". Took approximately 1,5 hour.

After the door finally was fixed we were told by the employee that "you have 10 minutes to pick up the keys". Not very friendly

Due to late departure from Schipol, we tried contacting the reception regarding late check out. We called over a period of 6 hours with no response.

A week after my stay I also discovered that they have withdrawed 150 euros extra from my account. Contacting them have led to no response at all.

Amsterdam has many great alternatives, go for them, this is hustling!

“Luxurious, quiet refuge from the madness”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2010

We stayed at the Artis Aquarium Apartment, managed by the Amsterdam City Apartments - tried to leave a specific review for the Artis Apartment, but wasn't able to.

This place is amazing - wood floors, tons of space, tall ceilings, very clean, quiet. The bathroom has a huge tub, separate shower, tiled floor and walls. Bedroom is simple - bed is very comfortable - typical European two twin beds shoved together, but the bed was anything but typical European - the bed was very comfortable. Living room has nice TV, DVD player (doesn't play North American DVD's), two very comfortable couches that can fold into beds I believe. The living room and bedroom overlook the Artis Zoo and Aquarium - great views, apartment is on third floor. Apartment has separate dining room that is huge, with a large table. Kitchen is great - stainless appliances, lots of working area, commercial quality oven/stove, microwave, washing machine and dryer, dishwashing machine. Has a second toilet in its own little room. Uses an instant-heat water heater that never gets cold. Kitchen and dining room look out onto courtyard. Location is great - 50 meters or so from a tram stop, about a 20-30 minute walk to/from the central train station, easy walk to the Rijk Museum and Vondelpark, another park very near - Ousterpark I think. There is wireless internet that works fine. We found out that Netflix, projectplaylist, other stuff doesn't work in Holland due to licensing.

We were met by a friendly guy who gave us the keys and instructions. I had a problem with blowing an electrical circuit halfway through our trip, had no phone to get in touch with property owners - sent them an email, left for the day, by the time we got back it was sorted out, no charge or rudeness whatsoever.

We absolutely loved this place - the kitchen was incredible - being able to cook high quality food in a great environment was relaxing, healthy, and saved tons of money. The location was a nice break from the loud, fast pace of the central downtown area.

“Very good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2009

Clean hotel, a little far away from the city centre but there are buses and trams all the time.
Super market down the road and friendly staff who are happy to help with any questions.
Would stay here again.

“Perfect place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2009

I stayed for 5 nights at Caeser V Oasis apartment on Keizergracht. The Apartment was huge compared to the normal hotel room in Amsterdam. It was clean and made a big difference waking up and being able to make my own breakfeast. In most hotel rooms for 100 euros a night there isnt even a kettle to make morning coffee. Philip who met me to hand the keys over was very kind and helpful. There was a TV /DVD player and music player. I had two big rooms all to myself. The kitchen/ living room had a big window that looked out onto a nice garden. All the restraunts and shops were full of local produce. it was nice to stay in a real local area with lovely bars and shops.
