Another company booked my room here because it's very close to the RAI Convention Centre, so I don't know what the room rate was but the Novotel was an enjoyable experience. The restaurant hostesses take their job very seriously and try to sit you in long rows in the centre of the room, and get annoyed if you tell them you'd prefer a table elsewhere [that's half a star off the review because they were annoyed every day for four days]. My wife joined me while I was at the hotel, and although the organizers and the hotel management were aware she was coming, no-one told me until checkout that there was a 20 euro supplement for sharing a double room ! [Another half point off] Breakfast was 20 euros per person but was balanced out by the supplement, and I'd also purchased a 25euro upgrade to get free internet, free bar fridge and a slight room upgrade - which seemed to mean slippers and a bathrobe. Anyway, the hotel is well located if you're at RAI and even if you're not, there's a tram route 100 meters away that goes to Centraal Station, and the train station to Schipol is 150 meters away, so public transport is really good and must annoy the taxi drivers no end. The breakfast is a comprehensive buffet, and at night the restaurant serves Dutch and Asian food which is not bad. Internet is available in the lobby on Mac computers which only run Windows, so they've managed to confuse users familiar with either system. [half point off] On a cold and wet night I needed to buy some aspirin, and the concierge told me the hotel didn't have any, but he said there was a supermarket just around the corner that would be open until 10pm. So I braved the weather, walked for twenty minutes around a very long corner and discovered the supermarket had closed at 7.00pm. [Another half point off for not knowing local shops]. But I'd be happy to stay there again, and that's worth at least three stars !
