“Not a four, but not bad at all”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Another company booked my room here because it's very close to the RAI Convention Centre, so I don't know what the room rate was but the Novotel was an enjoyable experience. The restaurant hostesses take their job very seriously and try to sit you in long rows in the centre of the room, and get annoyed if you tell them you'd prefer a table elsewhere [that's half a star off the review because they were annoyed every day for four days]. My wife joined me while I was at the hotel, and although the organizers and the hotel management were aware she was coming, no-one told me until checkout that there was a 20 euro supplement for sharing a double room ! [Another half point off] Breakfast was 20 euros per person but was balanced out by the supplement, and I'd also purchased a 25euro upgrade to get free internet, free bar fridge and a slight room upgrade - which seemed to mean slippers and a bathrobe. Anyway, the hotel is well located if you're at RAI and even if you're not, there's a tram route 100 meters away that goes to Centraal Station, and the train station to Schipol is 150 meters away, so public transport is really good and must annoy the taxi drivers no end. The breakfast is a comprehensive buffet, and at night the restaurant serves Dutch and Asian food which is not bad. Internet is available in the lobby on Mac computers which only run Windows, so they've managed to confuse users familiar with either system. [half point off] On a cold and wet night I needed to buy some aspirin, and the concierge told me the hotel didn't have any, but he said there was a supermarket just around the corner that would be open until 10pm. So I braved the weather, walked for twenty minutes around a very long corner and discovered the supermarket had closed at 7.00pm. [Another half point off for not knowing local shops]. But I'd be happy to stay there again, and that's worth at least three stars !

“Wrong place to stay if not event at RAI”

Stayed at executive floor: room 1532
Bathroom has no heating at all, ventilation in bathroom is so strong that needs to be covered! Towels are old!
At arrival room was freezing cold. Restaurant is basic with a strange food selection. Nearby elevator room was noisy, bad sleeping...

Room Tip: Far away from elevator

“Quality Hotel Near the RAI Exhibition Centre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

My third stay at this hotel while attending the ISE exhibition at the RAI. Fully refurbished and extended over the last couple of years so everything looks pretty new. The cost of breakfast is €22 so not very good value for money unless you are a BIG eater. Trains and trams nearby so easy to get into Amsterdam city centre. Staff very friendly and helpful. FREE wifi is a nice touch but if you want faster internet comnnection there is a network canle in the room but you have to pay for this service. The lobby lounge area is nicely designed and has several iMac computers with printers attached, very useful for printing out your boarding cards. A nice hotel if a bit expensive.

Room Tip: The A/C control on the wall does not control the temperature, you need to use the thermostatic valve...

“Nice Hotel shame about the attitude of the receptionist”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

This is not a city centre hotel however it does not mean it isnt an excellent place to stay whilst in Amsterdam. It is clean, crisp and tidy with nice rooms, king size beds and a good size bathroom. Tea and coffee is provided in the rooms along with a hairdryer. There is a big bar which is reasonably priced but gets busy on the evening especially when there is exhibitions on at the nearby Rai centre.
The hotel is next to the last tram stop of route 4, the trams run every 10 minutes all day and the last tram leaves the central station at 00:37 hrs so you can still enjoy a good night out and not miss your tram, if you want to stay out later there is a night bus which takes you back to the hotel and taxi's are cheap and easy to find. A 3 day Tram/bus/train pass is 15 euro 50 and is unlimitied us. you can buy the passes on the tram or at the central ticket office.
My only negative comment about my stay here was the female on reception ( I wish I had got her name)who checked me in was so very rude I was astonished, my friend was checking in next to me with another member of staff and was informed about all aspects of the hotel and local travel while I got thrust a room key with some dirty looks!

It's a very nice hotel. Newly built with multilingual staff working at the front desk. The breakfast was really nice and its easily accessible from the airport or train station.
