We just completed a seven night stay at the Krasnapolsky Apartments. We had booked a Junior Apartment. We checked in at the hotel lobby and as others have said, it was a bit of a wait but not too bad. A manager came to show us to our apartment, which was located in the back of the hotel with the entrance in a passageway next to the hotel. Also in the passage way was a popular jenever bar, Wynand Fockink. We were given a key card to open the front door of the apartment building as well as our own door. The apartments was up one flight of somewhat steep stairs (but not as steep as we later encountered in other places!). A hotel handyman helped us get our bags up the stairs. The apartment was BEAUTIFUL! We were so happy with it. There was a good sized living room/dining room with a sofa, cushy chair, flat screen TV on a credenza, table and four chairs. The windows had heavy curtains and sheers underneath. The windows were massive and could be opened. The living room looked out upon a canal (!!!) on the edge of the RLD. The canal view was a happy surprise! I have never enjoyed such entertaining people watching in my life. In the space of 5 minutes, we saw a person in a full chicken suit, man in regular clothes with a large rat's head over his own head, a boatload of beer swilling Vikings and a bunch of intoxicated batchelor partygoers singing and wearing gold sequin hats. Back to the room: The kitchen was open to the living room with marble countertops, microwave, cooktop, sink, espresso machine, hot water maker, dishwasher and pots, pans, glasses, wineglasses, dishes, cups and cutlery. Detergent for the dishwasher was provided. Everything was super clean and in great condition. There was a long hall with a closet containing a washing machine, dryer, vacuum cleaner and mop. It also held a folding bed for our third person which we set up in corner of the living room. The bedroom at the end of the hall had two large singles pushed together, 2 night stands, desk with internet connection (very expensive, 20 euros per day or 70 for the week), tall dresser with shelves and two spaces to hang clothes and another flat screen TV (good channel selection, including 3 BBC channels). The bedding was very comfortable. The bathroom was ensuite in the bedroom and had a big window (frosted for privacy), tub/shower, toilet and sink. Plenty of towels, good quality toiletries, hairdryer and super clean. The apartment looked nearly exactly like the one in the pictures here with the dark brown furniture and light brown curtains. The only negative I can possibly say about this apartment is that on weekend nights there is constant partying going on in the neighborhood and it is very loud. People also congregate outside the jenever bar in the alley outside the apartment to drink and it also got loud near our bedroom, but that bar thankfully closes fairly early and the noise stopped. But, people party on the canals until 3 or 4 in the morning (in the summer anyway - probably not in winter) and if you are a light sleeper you may find it difficult to sleep. During the weekdays, noise was not a problem. Outside the apartment were a number of bars, coffee shops and restaurants. An Albert Hein grocery store was about a 10 minute walk away behind the Royal Palace. I loved having the convenience of an apartment with the assistance of hotel staff a mere phone call away if we needed help. We had an initial problem with the electricity and staff came right away when we called. They were great. The Junior Apartment was just the right size for two adults or two adults and a kid. If you were a party of 3 adults, it might be awkward with the bathroom being in the bedroom. There is full maid service only once every seven days, but the maid came in once during the week to straighten the beds and bring fresh towels. The location of this apartment was central, service good and apartment fantastic. I would not hesitate to stay here again!
