We were on a touring holiday and arrived at around 7pm without a reservation. We were warmly greeted and offered a room for a rate of 99 Euros including breakfast. Room was simple but very clean, omfortable and everything worked properly! The bar which is in the lower ground was friendly and we had a few beers at the beginning and end of the evening. Breakfast the following day was a good buffet with everything that you need. All in all a good stopping point. Taxis to the town about 8 euros but beware of coming back -if you get the taxi from the whrong place, the one way system makes for a fare of 18 Euros. My fault for not listening to advice of original taxi driver!! Alkmaar is a great little town , very old with a mirriad of small streets and canals and lots of lively of bars and restaurants.

I went to Alkmaar for a busines trip in October 2008 and I stayed this hotel nearly 20 days. The room was very fresh, clean and quite large. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. The breakfeast was very good. You can go Alkmaar City Center in 20 min. by walking. If you would like to go to AZ Alkmaar's football match, the stadium is very close to the hotel.

Stayed on business and found the Hotel comfortable. The rooms are good with a great basement bar. This is not the last word in luxury but it is clean. To see the town you can walk (50 mins) or take a taxi.

There are some great bars and restaurants in the main town square. Great on a hot summers day.

Myself and two friends stayed at the Tulip in December for Everton vAlkmaar match in December.As previously stated this hotel is about 2 miles from the town right next to the impressive AZ Alkmaar stadium. It is a 10 euro taxi ride to town or a regular bus with clear timetable runs from right outside the Hotel fo 1 euro. The Hotel itself is spotlessly clean it has large well equipped rooms and the staff speak excellent english.The buffetbreakfast is typical continental fayre and there is a cosy basement bar .I would certainly stay here again.
