This is a nice little place half a km from Tilburg University. The restaurant is in an old house, the hotel rooms are in a modern building next door. I did not recognize the complaints made by other reviewers: service was nice and attentive, lights in the room were fine, including reading lights next to the bed and to the writing desk.
The bathroom looks brand-new and the wireless internet connection was automatic, with no extra charge. My room also had a flat screen TV and a well-stocked mini-bar. The wall paper has been there a while longer than the paint job in the ceiling and the new carpeting.
The double bed did have two separate mattresses next two each other... This, unfortunately for my personal preference, is rather common in The Netherlands. Apparently many couples in NL prefer the "independence" of separate mattresses. It shows in many hotels and even in furniture shops, where many "double" beds have two mattresses instead of a king-size. Still, most hotels in Amsterdam and Rotterdam have king-size beds as an option, but once you get to the smaller towns (like Tilburg) you are more likely to find these two-mattress beds.
The hotel is at the edge of a forest, but close to a busy road. The noise level at night is equivalent to what you might expect from a downtown hotel. It didn't bother me, but if you're a light sleeper, you might find it annoying. There's double-glazed glass in the windows, but some noise seeps in through the ventilation ducts and window frame.
