It's clean and centrally located. It's not a dirty, sketchy motel so that's a plus! The receptionists are obliged to be cordial and slightly friendly to your face, but don't get too excited about it because you might experience the below.
THE NEGATIVES:
-POOR HOTEL ROOM DESIGN. I stayed in a room with a kitchenette which turned out to be separate from the hotel and located down the street inside an apartment complex. Ok, strange. The room was tiny and had a simple Ikea kitchenette with bare essential dishes, which is fine. BUT THERE'S NO LIGHT! Basically when you're cooking dinner, you're cooking in the dark. Fun. With exception to the overhead light, the lamps are useless because they are terribly dim.
-THE HOTEL SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE. I called the front desk for a hair dryer and some dishwashing soap, since there was nothing to clean the dishes with. First, they told me to pick up the hairdryer myself (remember, my room is located elsewhere from the hotel) and to buy my own dishwashing soap! OK, 130 euros per night on a company discounted rate....what a rip off if they can't even deliver the hair dryer or properly equip the kitchenette with dishwashing soap! I know, I am totally capable of walking to the convenience store and buying my own soap but IT'S THE PRINCIPLE THAT MATTERS. How can you provide a kitchenette with utensils, pots, pans, a cleaning sponge and scrubber but no dishwashing soap? And rather than catering to the customer's needs, they tell me to get it myself! TERRIBLE!
-HIDDEN CHARGES. I called reception to ask if I can make calls (free of charge) outside of the hotel within Eindhoven region. The lady said that it was a good question, and she wasn't sure and to make the call anyway. If i got billed, she said she would take it off. Well, I took her advice and then the next day I called to double-check. Sure enough there was a charge, but I was speaking with a different receptionist now and she said that they would not take it off because "everyone knows that you get charged to make calls outside of the hotel." She spoke to me as if I was an idiot. I informed her that the lady I spoke to previously had said otherwise, but she said that it wasn't possible, that her staff was all aware of this rule. I was so fed up trying to explain to her, and giving the hotel a chance to redeem itself for their poor customer service the previous day, yet I was again DISAPPOINTED. I didn't care so much about the charges, it was the way she talked to me as if I was stupid. Not cool.
-One morning, the cleaning ladies came knocking on the door. The bed is right next to the door so you can clearly hear me saying, "Please come back later." They incessantly knocked until I opened the door until I told them to their face that I needed them to come back later, because OBVIOUSLY I WAS SLEEPING. Okay, I may be ranting now but that was just simply annoying.
-To top it all off, the internet died for more than 24 hours, which I know is sometimes out of the hotel's control, but it made the entire experience worse none-the-less.
This all happened in the span of 3 days. What?! A problem everyday? Yes. I'm fed up. I can't believe I'm still here...and I'm trying to check out as fast as I can. Honestly, I've never experienced such terrible customer service. I know the Dutch are known to be lacking in this area, but seriously? It's a good thing that my company paid for this hotel otherwise I would never stay here. Actually, I would be willing to pay more money out-of-pocket so that I wouldn't have to stay here.
If you don't have any respect for yourself as a customer and would like to pay top dollar for an uncomfortable hotel experience - stay here!
Room Tip: Don't stay here!
