Myself and my Partner stayed at the Parkzicht Eindhoven for one night in early June. We primarily chose this hotel because it was cheap and within walking distance to the main town, as we were only staying one night our expectations were not too high, we just wanted a place to sleep but We were suitably impressed with every aspect of the Hotel.
Getting there: We followed directions provided by the Hotel Website and ended up getting slightly lost, our fault! But be warned if you take one wrong turn its quite difficult to find & the locals didnt seem to know where it was!
Our first impression of the hotel was good, we arrived on a beautiful sunny day and the Garden area outside was full of people having Coffee in the afternoon Sun - always a good sign if a place is frequented by locals.
Check in was smooth enough, the receptionist was very friendly and made small talk and then gave us a map and directed us into the town centre (15mins walk). The hotel is a 3* so dont expect help with luggage or to be shown to your room. There is no lift in the hotel so we lugged our bags up 3 flights of stairs to the 3rd Floor - Not great but this was the only negative point.
The rooms were bright & Airy, basically furnished but clean and modern. Two Single beds pushed together (Very Comfy), TV, free use of DVD's, medium size bathroom with shower and a lovely view over the Park.
We would never normally choose to eat in a hotel, preffering to sample the local cuisine and restaurants instead but as it was late and we were very tired we asked to look at a menu. The hotel restaurant is run by the Dutch chain 'Listers' and had a 3 Course Menu for 25 Euro pp. The menu was so tempting we decided to stay and were very glad we did. We had Goats Cheese / Carpacio of Beef Starter, Fillet Steak in Red Wine sauce and a beautiful Hazelnut Mousse with Chantilly cream for dessert. The food was as good as any meal we had eaten in a top restaurant and the menu was very appetizing. Breakfast was just as good (Included in the price) a great selection of Breads, Crossaints & preserves and Bacon, Sausage, eggs etc along with Juices and coffees - It was Buffett so you could help yourself to as much or as little as you liked.
Location was good, on the outskirts of Town, a good 15min walk into the centre. The hotel is right opposite a Park and the surrounding streets are full of stunning residential properties i would kill to own!! I wish!
Tips: The hotel hires DVD's (Free) and offers Bike Hire
I would definatley reccomend this hotel if you are visiting Eindhoven and even if you dont choose to stay the night you must try the restaurant - the food is great.
I would also like to add that Eindhoven is a beutiful place, very quiet and releaxed and full of Green Parks to walk around. The town itself is easy to get around, great shops, bars and cafes. It far exceeded my expectations, and having visted Amsterdam, Maastricht and Rotterdam, I must say that I prefer Eindhoven and would love to return one day to spend more time there.
