The only thing that saves this hotel from a single star is location. It is highly convenient to the Grote Markt, so well positioned for sightseeing in Breda.

Other than that, the place is terrible. First off, from the time you pass the front desk to the time you arrive in your room, the place looks like a typical U.S. roadside hotel. Scratches and dings all over the walls, FILTHY stains all over the hallway carpet. You feel like you are in an inner city project walking downthe narrow, stained, hallways to you room. Depressing. The the rooms themsemves are spartan and likewise in disrepair. The "shower" was embarrassing - clearly converted from type of nasty tub, showerhead too low, etc. It just reeked of low quality. Little porthole windows above the twin size beds made it look like a prison.

Restaurant served buffet breakfast included with room rate, but nothing special. Typical Dutch fare - not bad, not great.

The bottom line is that there aren't many decent options in city center Breda. The Bliss is a far better option than th Golden Tulip, and while I wasn;t overly impressed with the Bliss, I didn;t realize how bad it could get until I made it to the Tulip. I'd avoid this place in the future.

I had a room facing the rear and it was very quiet. Nothing fancy, but it was a decent size, clean and had everything I needed. Breakfast buffet was quite extensive - amazing variety of breads, eggs, meats, cheeses, etc. Got a very good salad for dinner from the restaraunt - maager suggested I could take it as a carryout to save the 5 Euro room service charge. Front desk staff quite helpful Albert Hein grocery store very close to I got a few items to keep in the fridge. Old City Center is a five minute walk and is quite pretty. Lots of place to run in the area - canal close by and I followed it and took side-streets and discovered lots of nice areas nearby.

The Keyser is located close to anything you might want to do in Breda. Tourist attractions, shops, a museum (right next door), and parks are within easy walking distance. The railway station is only a bit further away.
Reception is efficient though rather sterile. The entrance is large and spacious with comfortable seating areas both for lounging and reading or working. Elevators are quick.
We stayed in a quite spacious room with a nice dressing 'closet' and excellent working table with good light. The bathroom was relatively large but not well-equiped: it was hard to bathe or shower because there were no shower curtains nor sliding doors etc. The window blinds let in too much light at night. Moreover the room (and the hotel generally) suffered from far too much noise throughout the nights we were here: very busy traffic outside.
Breakfast had everything you might want but was a bit less sumptuous than we'd have expected for the relatively high price.
Summing up: a good place to stay.

This was my second stay at this hotel in the center of Breda, and I do recommend it, but there are several issues with this place.
The location is great. You are near the center of town, close to the shops, old buildings and great restaurants. The hotel itself has some quirky issues. The room I stayed in was designed for hadicapped people, so it had a seat in the shower, handle bars near the toilet etc, but what was lacking was any shelve space in the bathroom, so my toiletries were on the floor.
The second room where my friend stayed, was small, very modern with huge mirrors to confuse - and scare the crap out of you because you had this constant feeling someone was breaking into your room - only to realize it was your reflection.
The bed was comfortable, my room was spacious, but the hotel was also noisy, both inside and out (drunks?) which is not their fault.,
The breakfast buffet is very nice, the bar in the hotel is great for a night cap, and overall I do recommend people to stay here, based on location and price.
Tip - for a great place to eat, go to the Indonesian restaurant Bali and order the rijsttafel. Only a short walk from the hotel.
