“Spacious room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

We stayed one night in this friendly hotel near the market place in the centre of Maastricht. The rooms are large and cosy with a lounge suite, a writing desk, a small table, a basic kitchen and a bathroom. The hotel has no restaurant but breakfast is served at a supplement (EUR 12.50 p.p.) in the lunchroom nearby in one of the old warehouses at the Bassin inner harbour. In the centre of Maastricht are many restaurants in all categories. Cars can be parked at the Sphinx parking lot for a maximum of EUR 6 per day.

“Home away from Home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 April 2011

Where to start..
The hotel is ideally located with everything in walking distance, close to the Market -square.and the entire centre of Maastricht.
The owner(s)/staff were most helpfull and pleasant.
We booked 3 rooms for the easter-weekend and all rooms were spacious, clean, well equiped with things like coffee and tea facilities, very comfortable beds, sitting area, spacious bathrooms, and such. And all individually decorated.
Móst wonderfull was the interieour, which must have been hand picked to their liking. From the reception room, to the not too steep stairways ,to the rooms, there is a very personal touch to it, which made us feel home away from home.
(who expects a chandelier in a fully equiped bathroom?)

Really good value for money, considering what we paid on a holiday weekend, for a 3 star hotel.

Breakfast is optional and seperate from the hotel and can be taken in their second bussiness in the yacht-harbour just a block away, a lovely place for breakfast and lunch with nice personal service of one of the owners. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed it outside along the harbour. Though a little steep in price, it was worth it, with fresh white table cloth and all fresh products. We enjoyed it!

All in all, this hotel topped of our stay in Maastricht as the 'icing on the cake'.

Thank you, we will return and recommend.
H.Diender (and party)

“Good value, small, charming older hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2010

We think this is a family run hotel. The manager or owner,(I am unsure of his status), was very nice and accommodating. As the hotel was not full, he gave us, at no addtional charge, a suite at the rear of the hotel. It is separated from the main building by a small garden style courtyard. The suite has two rooms and is eclectically furnished. There is an old wooden floor which made the suite seem like it could have belonged to someone's great grandmother. I found it very inviting and comfortable. It was also very quiet. Perhaps there would be some noise with the front hotel rooms as city buses do go up and down that street. Also, in the main part of the hotel, I saw stairs and no elevator. This is an old building, so if climbing stairs is a problem, you would want to request a room on the ground floor. There were some delicious chocolates placed by our pillows on the first night. The hotel is a short walk outside of the main historical area. The only problem we had was that because we were separated from the main building we could not get the free wireless interenet in our suite, but when we carried our netbook into the courtyard, then it was accessable. (Not good for a rainy day.)

“You will love this charming hotel”

For real charm I recommend the Hotel Quartier Bassin. We stayed for five days, and we will be back. At Boschstraat 55, this 17th century building is a two minute walk to the Market Square and another block to the center of town. The rooms are spacious, each wonderfully and individually decorated, with many antiques and old and modern paintings. The rooms are exceptionally clean and well ventilated. Sjo and Angele Souren welcome you like you have come home to visit the family. There are eight rooms, four in the front house, and three in the back house. The rooms are large and have a kitchenette with refrigerator and stove top, batchroom with tub or shower, television, and some even have a sofa and coffee table. One apartment is available, typically for a longer stay. Rates range from E95-120 per night, with the three person room renting for E135 per night. Public parking is on street and close by. The hotel serves a sumptuous breakfast (E12.50 at the time of this writing) a minute away at its shop, “Le Journal,” overlooking the water at t’ Bassin.
