“Good Location, But a Bit Warm and Loud”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2007

The hotel had an older decor and needed some updates, but was in a great location to explore Maastricht. We visited here with three other couples and rented four double rooms. The front desk staff was helpful. We didn't have any meals here, so couldn't comment on the restaurant. Without air conditioning, the rooms were a bit warm in the summer heat, and we were forced to open the windows. Despite the coffee shop across the street with a late night crowd, noise wasn't an issue at night - but as soon as delivery and garbage trucks started driving down the road around 6am, it was impossible to sleep with the windows open. In addition, the mosquitos are bad in the area this time of year, so this presented another issues with open windows. The hotel was priced well in comparison to other properties in Maastricht and suited our needs. I would likely try a different hotel the next time we travel there, but D Orangerie would also be okay.

“Good hotel but mediocre restaurant food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 April 2007

Stayed at the d'orangerie following trip advisor reviews. Location is great- a stone's throw from the market and shopping streets in the old town. Warm friendly welcome in a reasonably priced hotel- but.. my evening meal was not good with long waits for food and the meal not very appetising. I was the only there and it was not hard to see why. Breakfast good, but slightly pricey. A tray of bottled water was placed by the bedside, but we were charged unexpectedly for its use at the checkout. It would not be unreasonable to have this as a complementary provision.
All in all a good hotel for location and firendly attentive staff but does not quite attain an excellent rating.

“Fantastic location”

We have just come back from a 2 night stay & loved the hotel. We stayed on the 3rd floor in a junior suite, ok not the best in the world but for the price extremely good....!! We ate both evenings in the hotel & what a high standard this was. We also ate out for lunch & all round an excellent culinary delight.

Didn't bother with breakfast, but agreed was rather on the pricey side

I agree about the lift issue, but people should check these details before booking.

Overall an extremely friendly & very well situated hotel

“pleasant historic hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2006

My husband and I stayed 4 nights in this privately owned small hotel. The central location, historic character, friendly and helpful staff and reasonable price made for a very enjoyable stay. The negative is our room was on the top floor or third and luggage had to be carried up three flights of stairs. The room was average size for Europe with a sloping roof and windows that slanted downwards. The advantage of this was a cool breeze at night and a view of the stars while in bed. The bathroom was all marble tile and spacious. There was no kettle in our room as our room was standard but I brought my own and a stash of tea. However, there are many cafes in town. The hotel breakfast was an average price at 12 euros. The buffet style was served in a very romantic dining area with lighted candles. The selection was good with hot and cold choices. I had a great evening meal there as well. Pub adjacent to the entrance is smoky at times but the staff go out of their way to serve. I recommend a visit to Maastricht and the surrounding area and this hotel is a great budget choice to stay in the historic town center.

“Great stay”

We stayed here for one night during the European Fine Art Fair, when the town was very full. The all-female staff was exceptionally friendly, helpful and informative. Room was newly renovated, tasteful, spacious and comfortable. Lack of elevator is only drawback.
