Stayed one night at this hotel during a trip around the Netherlands and it was exactly what we were looking for. The price was reasonable (€84 inc. city tax), the bed was comfortable and the room was large. This isn't an all-singing, all-dancing hotel by any stretch, but it was perfectly comfortable for one night.

After staying in quite a few big chain hotels recently it was quite a pleasant surprise to stay in a place where they didn't even seem to have a computerised check-in. The building seemed very old (but not decrepit) and the lift was quite quirky. The room was very big, with lots of room.

Best thing about the Amrath DuCasque is undoubtedly the location - right on the Vrijhof in the middle of the city - it's a 15 min walk from the train station and unless you have really big bags it is easily walkable. But the service was good too, we were given a late check out and basically I don't have many complaints. The only detraction for me would be that the fridge hadn't been cleared out when we got there, so we had an old banana and some half-eaten yoghurt for company. The TV had the weirdest remote control you'd ever care to see also.

So in summary this was a nice, cheap, excellently located hotel and I'd recommend it to anyone staying in Maastricht.

The hotel is in a very old building but is very modern. One antique feature is the elevator. I highly recommend the hotel.

The hotel is not without charm. With a quaint and neat lobby, the overall atmosphere of the Amrath Hotel DuCasque was about reserved functionality. Our standard room was serviceable and, with the exception of that ubiquitous collection of fuzzy dust in the bathroom vent which seems to exist in every <4-Star establishment, was well looked after. The bed was fine and I slept well. The bath, with awesome last century seafoam green tiles, was adequate.

We were late arrivals without a prior reservation and had a choice between a room toward the square or a quieter room facing back of the hotel. We opted for the former as it gave us a modicum of more space, giving up, perhaps, a quieter sleeping chamber. If you are sensitive to noise, know that the thumping bass of a nearby club could be heard faintly and certainly the late night jammerings from revelers on the square came through to us too in our third floor room.

For an overnight at 85 Euro, the accommodations were adequate. The hotel's greatest asset is its location to the city's sites and shopping district. Also, an abundance of eating and drinking establishments are within easy walking distance. If you are traveling by auto, there is secured underground parking located just across from the hotel by Vrijthof Square.

I've wanted to stay here ever since I found Maastricht but the hotel was always booked. Got my chance in December for the Christmas market and wasn't disappointed.
Great location, cool elevator and the breakfast buffet was ample. The woman running the buffet was a darling, giving me a "to-go" bag of goodies when she found out it was my last day and I had a several hour train ride ahead of me.
