My wife, brother and I were heading to Heerlen/ Landsgraf on account of The Presidents of the United States of America playing at Pinkpop Classic. We needed a decent, cheap, place to stay and chose Tulip Inn based on some of the recent reviews.
We were not disappointed. Right in the middle of Heerlen. Parking practically next door, although not free then with hotel discount. Our very own Irish pub on the ground floor, with plenty of fun-loving people - and karaoke.
Based on advice found here we had asked for and received a room at the back of the hotel. It even had a (shared) terrace for my brother to enjoy some fresh air without having to descend to the ground floor.
There was a public music festival in the city centre, but we could barely hear it with open doors.
The extra bed was a fold out spring bed - but decent enough. Our toilet was small and very load - you had to be really quiet unless you wanted everyone to know what you were doing. The same can be said of the room - we could hear the next door neighbour, though it was not a problem.
It was nothing fancy, but functional. The downstairs lobby was rather posh, with a piano and fake fireplace.
Breakfast was not included but there was an all-you-can-eat buffet in the Irish pub at very reasonable prices.
Highly recommended for a cheap, convenient place to stay, just remember to ask for a room at the back.
