Historic building renovated with a cool modern interior design. The hotel is centrally located in the heart of Groningen, a city full of students and great urban spaces. The rooms are big and bright, with huge windows. Room prices are cheap for the Netherlands. Breakfast is not included in the price of your hotel room and costs €15,00 per person.

Corps de Garde is a small hotel on the northern edge of the city center of Groningen. The building is from the 17/18th century, but the hotel itself is modern. The room we stayed in (no. 1) was very spacious, clean and with a great shower.
What made the stay great was the staff. Very friendly and helpful.

A nicely decorated, ideally situated hotel, properly maintained, great beds and staff that continuously asks how they can be of service to you.

Rooms are large and we feel the hotel offers the best sq. metre/€ ratio, bathroom is around 10 sq.m.

Rooms however do not have a mini bar or a safe, which is the only reason to rate the rooms 4/5 instead of 5/5.

It's been a year since we stayed at the hotel but I promised to write a review and thought it would be good to post some before photographs. The hotel was in the process of renovations at the time and it looked like it was going to become a desirable place to stay.

Our room was huge and spare in its furnishings but nothing was quite finished. The staff were friendly, showed us around and served a decent breakfast.

The hotel is centrally located making it convenient to walk into town to view all the ancient buildings most of which have been renovated since I was in Groningen (a busy student town) twenty years ago.
