I stayed here several times for work in 2009-2010. The staff were always friendly and as other reviewers have noted, the fresh bread at breakfast was one of the highlights. Always clean, there was plenty of hot water, and even during an especially cold trip (-8C one January) the heating was good.
My main gripes were:
1. the beds that were all rather old and saggy - not too uncomfortable, but definitely time for an upgrade (which may have been done by now)
2. the very very steep stairs to the upper floors in the back building (which are not unusual in the Netherlands).
Otherwise the shabby chic was rather charming and I enjoyed staying there. There were a couple of computers available for general use in the lounge area.
I was treated to a meal in the French restaurant which was excellent if expensive, and ate a couple of times in the Greek taverna downstairs (less good but fine).
