“Great for citytrip by car”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

Do you prefer a hotel in the city center, or rather a nicer, cleaner, newer hotel with parking facility just outside the center? We chose the last and weren't disappointed. The room is new and spotless with a large bed in which you can stay for hours in the morning, because the breakfast is until 12! And at breakfast you can fry your own eggs! The people are friendly, the bar is nice and the restaurant above what we expected.

The only things we didn't like were a strange soft humming noise in the bedroom and the noisy breakfast room (bad acoustics). Also the highway can be heard quite loudly.

Since Groningen has a policy to minimize cars in the city center, consider driving to the nearby P+R Hoogkerk (exit 35), where you can park for free and buy a bus ticket for €3 (both ways).

“Decent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

Stayed here on a business trip.

Good service even though we were coming in late and leaving early. Decent room, everything looked nice and clean and the bed was good too.

Had a few drinks in the bar and service there was great.

“Good quality hotel for a one night stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

I stayed here whilst on business in the area for one night. The hotel is only around 10 minutes from Groningen Eelde Airport and is right next to the Martiniplaza complex. Check in was completed promptly and all staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful. The single room was on the small side but absolutely fine for an overnight stay, although the bed was a bit too firm for my liking.

Free wifi access was available (be sure to get the details from Reception) and worked at an acceptable speed without any issues. The restuarant had a good choice for evening meals and the barman-come-waiter was very good. The food and drinks were a bit on the pricey side I felt for the type of hotel - around the €20 mark for main courses, but no complaints in terms of the quality. The breakfast selection was also very good.

I went for a walk into the town centre of Groningen - the Receptionist pointed me in the right direction and a map is also provided in the room. It is around 25 minutes on foot where there are a good selection of shops, restuarants and bars.

I would definitely use this hotel again, but would ask for a room on the opposite side of the building where there is less passing traffic.

Room Tip: Room 117 is at the front of the hotel and faces the main road - rather noisy.

“Comfort and style combined with affordability”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Stayed in the hotel in late October for two nights. As we got a special discount deal and it was out of the tourist season it was excellent value for money! The hotel is very modern, our room was very spacious and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a buffet breakfast and there was a huge choice for everyone's taste. It's a perfect hotel for both business and leisure.
Location wise the hotel is about 15-20 min walk from the train station and 25-30min walk from Grotte Markt and the city centre. It's a very pleasant and enjoyable walk on a nice sunny day but it is a little bit too far if it's raining or it's windy. Also, as the hotel is located by the exit of a highway, some of the rooms are quite noisy at night so ear plugs are essential for a good night sleep.

Room Tip: Rooms at top two floors and at the very back of the hotel facing away from the main road / highway a...
