This is a really difficult hotel to rate, because I can clearly see that if you are over the age of, say, 60, you will love it. If you are younger than 45 you won't. It's perfectly pleasant, there are large and beautiful gardens, safe parking and free sweets at reception. The rooms are clean and comfortable, there is a small swimming pool where they play musak from the 60s and 70s. There is a safe in the room, one that opens with a key so you don't have to follow any instructions or remember a number. But the entire internet access for the whole hotel is one computer in the lobby. The decor, while perfectly acceptable and not tatty, is dated. They serve dinner in the hotel although the food is expensive and the style belongs in the 70s. If you belong to the Starbucks generation, you will hate the coffee at breakfast because you have to queue for a push-button machine and it tastes revolting - the cappuccino tasted burnt. Breakfast was otherwise fine, generous and varied, notwithstanding the coffee, but there weren't enough staff in the dining room so that things ran out and were not replenished for a long time, the coffee as I say could have been freshly made and poured by a person. My parents would like this hotel very much, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone my age (41) or younger.

Really enjoyed our stay here, the setting is very nice. It is out of Nijmegen proper, but there is a bus that goes into town just a few hundred meters from the hotel. The location next to the large park makes it a very relaxing place. Beds, pillow and sheets are good. Great location if you like walking or cycling.

It appears that all rates at this hotel include breakfast. The breakfast has a good selection. It appeared that a reservation was required to have supper in the hotel resturant. Lots of restaurants available in the area and Nijmegen that don't require reservations.

All rooms at this hotel are non smoking. This is not explained on the website when booking, as I am always worried about getting stuck in a room that has been smoked in when I can't select a non smoking room on line, so it would be better if this was clear when booking.

Warning, there is a construction project next door, and they start work by 7 am (hammering) . People who what to sleep past that time may not like this location until the construction is finished.

Only concern would be that in warm weather the room might be hot, as I didn't see any sign of there being any air condition available in the rooms. Temperature was fine for us, but if you plan to stay in the summer I would recommend that you check other reviews from the summer season. The rooms do have a window over the french door you can leave open, and the french door opens to a small balcony, but that might not be enough on a hot day.

One computer is available beside reception that give you free access to the internet. Otherwise you have to pay the expensive rates for the wireless internet provider.

I stayed in the Golden Tulip from the 18th- 21st June with Friends and was there to attend the British rock Band 'Muse's' concert in Nijmegen on Saturday 19th. The Hotel is lovely, modern and clean and set on lovely grounds in the countryside just outside the City. The rooms themselves were comfortable, spacious and were cleaned every Day. There was no charge to use the Safe provided (well done!) but would be a little concerned at the small Balcony Fence of the Apartments considering how tall the Dutch are and I'm only 5"10! Elsewhere the Hotel Bar was friendly and well stocked !. The Contintental Breakfast Buffet was tasty and took care of the Appetites of 4 hungry Irishmen. We all slept like Logs in a nice quite relaxing Hotel and did I forget to mention the Staff? They were all nice, helpful, polite and efficient and did not mind our lack of Dutch. All in all, we got very good value for our Money and this is one Hotel I would be very happy to stay in again. Thanks to all there.

We stayed one night and frankly could have stayed a few more simply for the "get-away" nature of the hotel. Surrounded by green and gardens, the hotel allowed us to relax and sleep peacefully. We had gone to meet a relative who was traveling with a group and was staying there - thus, we had expected an institutional atmosphere but were pleasantly surprised.
