“Beautiful, far from perfect though...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Beautifully located in the middle of the woods, yet very close to the road (without noise being a problem), surrounded by nice walking and cycling routes, bus stop 20 mtrs away, De Echoput is a pleasant hotel.
It is newly built, thus with a modern design and amenities. We stayed in a superior room on the 2nd floor. It was spacious, clean, modern, nice bathroom with double shower and huge bathtub, separate toilet, comfortable bed, balcony overlooking the woods.

Although the hotel could be worthy of the 5 stars given, the Reception is far too small, basic and chaotic for such a rating. We received on several occasions confusing and incorrect information and the ''walking routes'' maps that they provide are useless. For the rest, the staff is friendly.

Although on the small side, the pool area is very nice. Beautiful pool, heated water, relax lounge chairs, good quality towels, cold water and toiletries available as well! The sauna can accomodate a max. of 3 persons, thus quite small, but it works just fine!

We haven't tried the main restaurant, just the bistro Flavours which failed to impress us in any way. Cannot give it more than 3 stars!!! Overcrowded with small tables that are almost impossibly close to each other, sometimes making it impossible for people to sit comfortably, the bistro lacks attention to details, a good service or a wide menu. This is also the breakfast area - buffet breakfast with poor choice for a 5* establishment!!! As for having dinner in the bistro, the food tasted well, obviously French gastronomie ( not for hungry souls :) ), but the wine list is very customer unfriendly. We are aware of the fact that this is a gourmet place, however they should keep the incredibly expensive wines for the restaurant and have more accessible ones for the bistro. Furthermore, in the wine menu, there is no description of the type of wine - just the name and the provenience. Not everybody is a wine expert and resorting to ask for the waiter's advice ends up in a recommendation with a 3 digit price... Most of the wines in the menu are a couple hundred euros per bottle, very limited choice for more affordable wines. The bistro experience both for breakfast and dinner was not extremely pleasant.

Free wifi and free parking, also the hotel is very close to Apeldoorn - a couple of minutes by car or bus.

We would definitely return to this hotel, for its beautiful location, design and modern features, but certainly not to have dinner in the bistro anymore.

“Very nice hotel but what about Service?”

Stayed there for one night on a business trip. The hotel looks really nice from the outside and the rooms are also very "design" BUT... I made the booking through booking.com and paid for a twin bed room (I was with a co-worker). When we made it there, they would not give us a twin bed room and they said booking.com never mentionned this option. They forced us to take two rooms at full price. It was really a scam, totally dishonnest...

I will never ever go back in this hotel.

Excellent food as you would expect from this hotel.
The hotel is also very chic and modern - perfect for a romantic trip, unfortunately my stay was for business

“great wekeend away - we hope to visit again soon!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

We had a great 2 days in the area of Apeldoorn with an overnight stay in de Echoput. Really enjoyed our visit - beautiful and very comfortable rooms, great food, friendly service and all of that at a very good price (incl free minibar, wifi etc)! Only minor areas for improvement where the dinner where the service was a little bit slow (for us a little bit too much time in between the courses) and the fish too salty. BUT overall a wonderful stay and we hope to visit again soon!

“Excellent, restful, and gastronomic weekend at this hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 March 2011

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room and bath was nicer than it looked in the pictures, the environment excellent for rest and relaxation, the food was of a very high standard. Definitely choose to dine at the restaurant if you are taking the "arrangement". The atmosphere was a good notch classier than the more relaxed bistro (with a less exciting menu). Dinner staff were knowledgeable. Good thing about a small hotel/restaurant was that when we arrived for our dinner, the maitre d' knew who we were without having to ask our names. The waiter noted that I was pregnant and suggested alternatives without being prompted.
Breakfast was a lovely buffet with some non-standard offerings. Some reviews complained about the cost of it but we got served Moet champagne the 1st morning! Only complaint was that the breakfast room was understaffed our 1st morning and the water drainage in room was slow (though the water never overflowed).
Sure the heated pool wasn't big and the sauna even smaller but it wasn't cramped. The free (though limited) mini-bar was nice and free in-room wifi that actually works fast and well!! Finally, when we went down for dinner and I went back up to the room to get something, the room was already turned-down for the night. Lovely!
All in, we were glad we chose this hotel!!
