This was just the place to blow away my worries after a tough few months at work - a vast expanse of beach and the tide going in and out under a starry sky. The views are extraordinary and the room was calm and comfortable.
We stayed in one of the more expensive rooms in the bay views wing, and it was very clean with an exceptionally comfortable bed and lots of hot water. It sounds like there is a big diffference in standard between these rooms and the more basic ones (as one might expect) but I did not see the latter. I was very happywith everything and thought the breakfasts and the helpful staff also worth a mention.
It wasn't fair to try to take a quarter point off for the bar and restaurant not being very atmospheric - it was November, so the view was hidden ...and during the spring and summer the atmosphere comes from the surroundings - it doesn't need much else. In a quiet rural setting in winter isolated bars are going to be quiet. Sometimes that has a nice feel to it and sometimes ...well, not so much. If i had to find an area for improvement it would be to make the bar somehow more snug.
