“Tranquil surroundings - hotel tastefully decorated for Georgian period. Fantastic customer service. Good leisure facilities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012 via mobile

My partner and i are members of best western and having stayed in 13 of their hotels in the last 12 months. This is one of the best for customer service, food and location. The hotel is located in beautiful surroundings. You could be in the middle of nowhere. Which was ideal. However, you were within 2 miles of a beach. Fresh water east, and between 8-10 miles of tenby.

The exterior of the hotel is well maintained. There is 39 rooms, ample free parking. The facade is painted cream.

Upon checking in we were greated by a lady called Amy. She was lovely, she explained where the leisure facilities were, where breakfast was and dinner. Couldn't fault the warm welcome.

The inside was tastefully decorated to a Georgian theme. A beautiful stair well.
We were in room 15 on the first floor. This was in the west wing. , the room was clean and tidy. Smelt fresh, linen was crisp. The bathroom had plenty of toiletries. It was a double room, which was fair in size. There were facilities for making tea, coffee and hot chocolate. 2 bottles of water, and biscuits. No concerns here

We used the newly refurbished leisure facilites. The swimming pool was fair in size, changing rooms clean, but small. I'm assuming as its a small hotel there no need for a large changing room. There was a small pool for children. Children are only permitted at certain times.
There is a sauna, steam room, jacquzzi. All clean. Not too busy for a Sunday afternoon. The staff were really friendly and welcoming

We chose to have evening meal in the Michellen star hotel. The food was in conservatory. The drinks were reasonably priced. Vodka and diet coke £3.05 I usually pay around £3.55 upwards.
Staff courteous. It was busy. The staff wasn't phased by this. We had warm bread with olive oil basalm ic vinegar. Very tasty. Main course, I chose spicy bean burger with potato wedges and my partner had welsh beef burger. Very nice. The award is well deserved. We didn't have desserts too full.

Breakfast was in another part of the hotel. I preferred this location to the conservatory . Again staff really helpful.

The breakfast was buffet style, with choice of pains au chocolat, croissants, fruit juices, yoghurts, cereal. A choice of bread.

I tried the croissants and pan au chocolat. Very fresh..

There was menu where you could choose from a wide variety from welsh breakfast to eggs benedict.
Welsh breakfast was very nice, but it was warm. Still tasty though. Consisted of beans, bacon , sausage, black pudding, mushroom, egg, Lavar bread, grilled tomato.

The only negative was that there was a drilling noise from 10pm to 11pm. Rang reception around 10.45. They said that it would stop around 11 as the noise was from kitchen staff were cleaning fans in kitchen.. In fairness it did stop and when I spoke to Amy following day she was really apologetic. Amy did ask me if I wanted to speak to general manager and I was like no, just be mindful for future guests.

On the whole a positive stay, with excellent customer service, warm welcome, tastefully decorated rooms.

I will say that I complete a survey every time I visit a best western hotel.

Please visit and enjoy your stay. Will definitely visit again

“Relaxing weekend.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I bought a weekend away trip with Moneysupermarket. We usually stay in Tenby but know the area quite well and had seen Lamphey Court in our Tenby camping days so it was quite exciting to be actually staying there.
We had a great room, one that I`d be happy to have in my own house.Large, square with 2 windows giving an open aspect on both sides. It was in a stone house at the side of the main building, and up stairs. No problem for us and we`re late 50`s.Nice and cosy as it was a cold weekend.
We didn`t eat at the hotel as, to be honest, I found the extra one had to pay should one wish to have the steak, was a bit naughty and unecessary.
I really enjoyed the swimming pool , gym and sauna. My husband watched the rugby match whilst I kept fit!I found it really convenient to simply pop over to the building. Nice , soft towels and plenty of them. The public are able to use the facilities if they join a club. Usually I`m not too keen on this type of arrangement but the people whom I met were great and I enjoyed the company.
Breakfast was a bit of a fiasco. Everybody appeared at the same time and the waitresses were a little stressed. My porridge took an age to arrrive but it was hand stirred, I believe.Orders were incorrect but that appears to be almost the norm these days...people don`t listen. Giltar in Tenby also gets the orders wrong, too.
We asked for more hot chocolate etc in room and had an abundent supply left for us.
The Bishop`s Palace is literally on the door step. It was closed when we went...but the gate was open so we had a great wander around with nobody else in sight.
My only gripe was the tv. I teach young offenders and really need to relax. I enjoy watching films which are usually on quite late. I am too tired normally to stay awake, however, when I go away, I really do look forward to watching a film or two. For whatever reason(manager didn`t know why...)our tv wouldn`t pick up any of the channels showing films(Freeview). This was a real disappointment and surprisingly, spoiled some aspects of my weekend.
Generally, it was a bargain and I would certainly book again should the opportunity arise.

Room Tip: Take your bathing costume ! Nice meal midday in Pembroke ...over the bridge to old corn storage barn...

“Lovely hotel and location!”

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights on a special offer and upgraded to a superior room.
The superior room had lots of space, desk, TV, sofa and coffee/tea making facilities, was warm and welcoming. The décor was very nice and in keeping with the style of the hotel.
The room and toilet was clean and tidy offering the essential toiletries that you would expect in this kind of hotel.

Breakfast was varied, hot English, Welsh and Continental with lots of choices from the extra menu like Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, etc...
Service was friendly and attentive.
We requested some sandwiches while the kitchen was closed and a very friendly and obliging receptionist/waitress offered to make them for us, and they were delicious and very well presented!

We had dinner in the hotel restaurant.
The menu was varied and well-conceived. I had the Duo of Lamb, which was very nice but the small rack of lamb was overcooked and dry...asked for this item to be replaced and immediately the waitress apologised and the lamb was replaced by a perfectly cooked piece of meat!
Some excellent service and very attentive waiters, very polite and friendly. Overall a great evening with some great food!

We did not use the Spa facilities but heard it was very nice...
Check out was very quick and efficient even though they were very busy!
Recommended!!

Room Tip: Upgrade to a superior room with lots more space.

“SUNDAY LUNCH/SPA SESSION - NO STAY”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We went to Lamphey Court Hotel recently for an offer we had seen in the local paper (Western Telegraph) - we had previously been members of their gym etc before the fire.
Sunday lunch was okay, meat tasty, veg hard with not much flavour, but the roasters (only two very small ones with no extra boiled potatoes!) and the yorkshire was fine. The dessert I had wasn't very nice. It was meant to have been a banana and chocolate bread and butter pudding, no banana present, looked and tasted like a chocolate croissant cooked in a custard!! And gave me horrific heartburn! Partner had the chocolate sellection which he said was nice. When we go home we realised we had been charged £16.95 each instead of the £15.95 which was on the offer and I quoted when I booked the table. The bill came to over £40.00 with drinks.

We did have a nice time in the spa though!!

“Great location and equally great food.”

My partner and I spent a two-night break at this hotel, and decided to use a local pub for an evening meal but their kitchens were closed so returned to hotel for dinner which was very fortunate since we experienced excellent cooking.

Staff always cheerful and helpful, with nothing too much trouble. Public rooms have sofas and a selection of daily newspapers giving a relaxed environment.

Quiet location for hotel and didn't hear the wedding party taking place on the premises! However, the mattress and sofa in our particular studio had seen better days and the shower holder was broken, but good heating and clean.
