Instead of flying to another city or going to the mountains for new years eve, a friend of mine and I decided to stay in Zurich city and book a nice hotel for 2 nights, also to celebrate her birthday. We decided to book the fourpoints sheraton due to its location: sihlcity shopping, restaurants, bars, cinemas and asia spa in close proximity. If you want to go shopping, the hotel is perfect for dropping off bags and then returning to the next round of shops.
We were both very happy with the hotel, for the following reasons.
Check in was swift and friendly.
The hotel feels secure, you only can use the elevator with your room key. We were stationed on the third floor.
Corridors are carpeted, so no need to worry about noisy shoes or high-heels.
There was a bottle of complementary water waiting in the room, which is hardly ever the norm and just makes you feel so much more welcome. Of course Zurich offers tab water at a high drinking quality, but it just does make a difference to see that bottle of water sitting on the table with that welcome card.
The room was normally sized, but each of the two mattresses of the twin bed was broader than the usual 80 cm, and very comfortable.
Cupboards, minibar, safe, drawers have been smartly integrated into the overall spacing architecture. We liked the open space concept (bathroom at the entrance, a passage with the cupboards leading to the twin bed room with a corner sofa, a cool lamp and a little table, while shower and toilet each had their own separate space).
There was a water kettle and three types of surprisingly exquisite tea. I haven't tasted such a delicate and aromatic early grey in a while, a welcome deviation from the usual boring and weak lipton tea bags.
Style and decoration is modern (dark wood panel) without being cool or too chilly. The air-condition could be switched off or adjusted as deemed fit, and there was also a small side-window that could be opened.
The shower is large and can accommodate more than one person.
I had arranged for a birthday flower bouquet to be delivered to the room, which was carried out as requested. In addition, room service brought a little complementary birthday chocolate cake on behalf of the hotel, with a personally written message, which was a very nice surprise and thoughtful gesture :-).
When we asked for two thinner pillows the first night, room service delivered them in no time.
The ground-floor bar offers a decent selection of drinks, and the card is leaning on quality rather than quantity, a welcome deviation from the thick menues where you hardly can make up your mind.
We have not tried out the restaurant, but the bar was nice, and it offers various snacks for the small hunger as well.
Checkout was as friendly, attentive and swift.
Having stayed there for two nights, we felt rested and relaxed. Bottom line, the fourpoints sheraton has style, feels comfortable and offers good value for your money.

This hotel is alrite. If you want to sightsee in Zurich, location is not great. Shower was not working great, water kept changing between hot and cold (i did not have time to complain though for them to fix it). Room setup was kind of strange - a bit too modern for me, did not like it, i kept hitting into the big honking lamp. Reception was very nice and helpful, great breakfast although very expensive (like everything in Zurich).

I stayed at the Four Points on business and was delighted by the size of the room, incredibly spacious and chic. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and there was a nice view out the window of the river. Size of the shower was great! Complimentary touches (sweet treats and water) also made the stay more enjoyable. Would stay here in Zurich.

Location fo the Hotel is very good, near to shopping mall, bus tram station. Good rooms however for family with teens could be a problem as the bathroom doors are of some what opaque glass.
Need to use th ebathroom with lights switched off.
