We rented a serviced apartment that was about two blocks from the main EMA building, and less than a 10-minute walk to the main train station (Zurich HB). You also can take the tram (only two stops), but that can be pricey at CHF2.60 per person each way.
The apartment was huge, with a large living room/dining room/kitchen, a half bath, and a master bedroom suite with a king bed (complete with two individual comforters) and a private bathroom with a kind-of smallish shower. Two robes were provided as were two sets of slippers; very nice! By European standards, this is palatial, and cost less than most tiny hotel rooms that were available when we booked at EMA.
The kitchen has a full American-sized refrigerator with a freezer than made copious amounts of ice cubes (try to find ice in Europe!), a two-burner stove and a combo microwave oven/regular oven that we simply couldn't figure out how to use; no worries, there also was a toaster. We cooked breakfast and made lunch in the kitchen most days. There is a kitchen/dining table that seats four. There also is a combination washer/dryer that was adequate for doing small loads (but took forever to dry). Curiously, they did not provide detergent, so we used shower gel, which they did provide, and it worked just fine. There is even a dishwasher, for which they did provide soap.
There are two grocery stores at (Migros) or near (Coop) the train station and two more of these only two tram stops in the other direction, so it is easy to keep the fridge stocked.
Our only real complaint was that the furnishing were quite spartan, including a tube TV that had to be 20 years old. The TV had about a dozen English-language programs, including CNN, CNBC and Bloomberg; there also were recorded movies but we didn't try to watch any of them. Internet access was CHF 17 per week, which is less than many hotels charge for one day. If management were to spend a bit to replace the indoor/outdoor carpet, install a flat-screen TV, and provide plush towels, they could really upgrade the place. But then they would probably have to raise prices.
Check-in was very easy and the clerk helped us wheel our substantial luggage from the main building to our apartment. Check-out was equally easy and took only a couple minutes. We had daily maid service that was exceptional.
All in all, this is a tremendous value if you value space over hotel amenities.
