This hotel has a very good location nearby great restaurants and Lake Zurich! The breakfast buffet is not enormous, but the staff very service minded. However, the price level is extremely high compared to room size, and it continues to surprise me that - despite repeated complaints - the reception staff could not ensure internet connectivity in my room. The explanation of 'on-off' connectivity is not convincing, when only experiencing 'off' four days in a row...

This is the hotel where we put most of business visitors, who want somewhere close to the office. It´s reasonably priced, clean and the rooms have everything that a business person needs. It´s on the tram lines 2 and 4 and with a little knowledge of town, you can get there from the airport and anywhere in the city using public transport. And it´s five minutes away from a walk along the lake!

I used to live in Zurich and return regularly, both for business and leisure. I foudd this hotel to be actually a great location, as it is close to the center, in a relatively lively neighbourhood, with lots of bars and restaurant but yet close to the lake. The room is well organised and lots of thoughts have been put in the details. I highly recommend it.

We stayed in room 307 for 2 nights. The hotel location is great, central and just two blocks away from Limmat and Limmatquai. We enjoyed sleeping with the windows open (not a single mosquito!), but if you prefer to keep the street noise out, the windows are fully soundproof. Our room was bright (a large double window + balcony), clean and sufficiently spacious for 3. We also had enough space for most of our clothing/luggage. Travel guides describe the room furnishings as "sleek," but "IKEA basic" is probably more adequate. The bathroom is spacious and clean, though a little weird with 2 separate sliding doors leading into the bedroom. The hotel provides a bare minimum of toiletries and we had to request additional shower gel because nothing was restocked by housekeeping. The buffet breakfast is best taken before or after the 8-8:30 am rush, when popular food items are replenished and the dining room staff (at times consisting of just 1 person) can attend to the guests. It is a traditional European style buffet, not much in the way of eggs/protein, but good espresso and a solid selection of cold cuts and pastries. The surprising part was that, in health-conscious Switzerland, we could not get skim or low-fat milk or yogurt -- only whole milk and yogurt were offered in the hotel. We made our own restaurant reservations for all meals but one, when we needed the hotel's help in finding a good venue for a late dinner (10:30 pm). They assured us that Mere Catherine would be open and that there is no need to confirm by phone, but when we arrived, the restaurant was closing and would not seat us.

Sorell Seefeld is a very ordinary, no-nonsense property. This being Zurich, however, it costs $400 or 330 CHF/day (triple room + breakfast + outdoor parking). Not sure that we will be back, can only hope that the US Dollar starts recovering soon.
