“Perfect value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

This hostel is wonderful for youth and friends. you can get a very cheap and clean beds in the most expensive city in europe. Bathrooms and toilets were not inside the room, they were outside it, But they were very clean and fresh. The room was only 4 guys, they were very quit but that was okay for me. Breakfast on the hostel was very good too. The staff there were very friendly. The location of the hostel was not very bad because in front of it there is Tram that takes us to the city center. The nice thing was that there was a souvenir shop in the hostel and that was not so expansive.

“above average hostel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

Zurich is definitively the most expensive city I have ever been to, so with that in mind we opted for a hostel rather than a hotel and we took this one since it also had parking.

Parking was free and the place was great, the facilities were very clean and organized and the breakfast was modest but never the less really good. We have great service and the staff were very eager to give us some tips and directions during our stay.

If you are doing a road trip on a budget this is a great alternative. We walked back from the city center and it was about 30-40 min.

“I didn't get scabies, but...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

Worst of 9 different hostels on my Europe trip. I guess if you have the Youth Hostel membership it might be something to consider, but I would avoid this one if possible.

Cost - Way overprices, especially if you're not a Youth Hostel member

Service - This was the best part about this experience. It wasn't amazing, but compared to everything else at this hostel it was decent.

Wifi / internet - This sucked. There was no wifi available in the room, and it you had to jump through hoops to get it in the lobby. I'm from America and didn't bring my phone (due to the outrageous charges of using it outside the US) and the only way to get internet is by having a text sent to your phone with a code. After failing to find a solution the front desk FINALLY just gave us a code (I'm not sure why they couldn't have done that in the first place). Once we did connect it was as slow as dial-up.

Rooms - Small bunk beds. The room was really hot with very little ventilation and smelled like sweat (and that's being generous).

Cleanliness - I slept in my Cocoon liner to protect me from their sheets, pillowcase, and covers. It felt very dirty and I felt like I needed to take a shower just to clean off from the room.

Bathroom - Coed bathrooms. Smelled better than the rooms but not by much.

Location - Decent location near a bus stop.

Room Tip: Here's a tip - go somewhere else.

“very clean, friendly staffs, no real 6-bed room only for women”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

it is a very clean hostel, beyond the mind, situated in a good place concerning public transportation, just 5 min to tram and close to the Zurich river. unfortunately there are not a lot of restaurants, fast foods or Cafe in nearby but you can find one good in 1-3 station.
the shared toilettes and bathrooms are very clean.
wifi is just working in the lobby and not in the rooms.
There is no real 6-bed rooms only for women unless you are a group of 6. we booked an only for women room but we faced some problems and we forced to get in contact with staffs and show them documents for this. until they accepted to leave our room only for women. I highly recommend this hostel for a short stay and visit from zurich.

“All we could afford - and a nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2011

A friend and I ( 60's somethings)needed a place for one night before flying out of Zurich Airport... maybe there are alternatives for low budget travelers, but this was last minute, and we were happy to be so conveniently located. Given the prices of hotels in Zurich ( which run in the hundreds, much higher than, say NYC), this is an absolute bargain, and provides nice meals ( which I would suggest taking advantage of, as you are in for real sticker shock if you are from the US or probably much of the rest of Europe). Rooms are modern dorm type, but very clean and roomy enough. Not far from the tram. Nice views if you walk towards the Lake. And for another bargain, take the commuter ferry that runs down the Lake from downtown-- costs very little, great views!
