I chose to stay at this hotel because it was relatively central and other reviewers mentioned how quiet it was. Unfortunately I was allocated room 401 which meant I had the continual background noise of the lift engine going until about 11.30pm. Without the background humming noise the room was indeed very quiet.
The evening meal was outstanding, and the recommendations for wines was great. I recommend you dine in one at least one evening.
Reception staff very helpful, ensuring I knew how to get to places in town. Staff in the dining area were sometimes difficult to find (I sat for about ten minutes in the restaurant before anyone appeared, it was disconcerting)
Breakfast in the mornings was very good too, however it didn't appear as if the cheeses or salami were restocked so on one morning the dregs of the cheeses were left which was unappealing. The range of goods was really good, something for everyone.
Free use of an inroom computer, with wi-fi that was an added bonus. And if you know landline numbers you wish to call in the EU, Australia or Brazil you can do that free too.

I am happy that you enjoyed staying at the Claridge Hotel and that you liked your dinner as well as our wine recommendation. However I have to appology that you had to wait in the Restaurant - that should not be the case. We shall take this point at our next service team meeting and make sure it w'ont happen again. Thank you for having brought this to my attention. - I agree that dregs of cheese can be unappealing. It is sometimes hard to be quick enough to clear those dregs from the cheese plate (why do people cut it on the cheese board and not on their own plate ?), but we try hard what you may see from the fact that it only happened on one day and not daily. However I am happy that our selection of food at breakfast did find your approval and had been sufficiant in every respect.
