I stayed here while on business in Zurich but will not do so again. I wanted to get a shirt ironed but it was impossible. I was not allowed to use an iron, nor would they identify someone who could iron it for me until after my meeting started in the morning. Most importantly, they were horrible about it, completely unfriendly, aggressive and arrogant, while asserting "Sorry, it is a rule." I was reminded of the worst kind of Teutonic attitudes. Never again.

The place is clean and bright, rooms are oddly overly decorated and mine looked out onto a lift shaft. Suggest you save and stay elsewhere.

This hotel is basically all about the location. It has the best location in Zurich but also probably the most arrogant one. In the front desk you feel like you have to appologize because you wanted to stay at their hotel. Does not offer anything special except very clean and nice rooms. Avoid single rooms, the bed is the size of a crib pushed to the corner. Suites are nice. Stayed many times only because of the perfect location but otherwise I would definitely avoid.

I have decided to no longer stay at the Savoy on my future trips to Zurich. Two stays in a row, the room rate charged was different from what I booked, with no acknowledge from the reception of error on their part -- and I am not willing to test the "things happen in 3s" hypothesis on this one. Despite booking a corporate discounted rate, I was twice consecutively charged the rack rate, which is is 500+ CHF per night, for which you receive a small, single, smoking room (ie: there are NO non-smoking rooms). While Switzerland is a beautiful/precise country/culture, it is hard to understand the fascination with smoking in every single indoor space possible. My room had such a smoke overhang that even opening the terrace doors (at 5C outside) did not lift it, leading to my breathing during sleeping to be somewhat labored. Not fun. The shower is poorly designed (surprisingly) in that the showerhead and door placement is such that the floor is covered in water after a standard 10-15 minute shower, leading your post shower bathroom time to occur in a large puddle (I resorted to wearing my shoes while in the bathroom during my stays). The reception staff are efficient but certainly not warm, which is a shame if you are trying to navigate a town in which you do not necessarily speak the language. The doorman/bellman (most likely Italian), however, is very warm. These are probably just cultural differences at play. The one consistently good thing about the Savoy is its location. But since Zurich is very small, in future, I plan to stay someplace that is a better value with cleaner rooms and just walk a bit more.

Stayed here on business on two separate occasions -- two years apart (07 and 08). First class hotel, first class accomodations. Center of town and walking distance to the old city bars and restaurants. Lovely rooms with all amenities. First class reception and service. Look forward to my next trip....
