I have been staying in this hotel now for some time while doing business in Zurich. The location could not be better, 5 min from the main train station and 20 feet from the most prestigious shopping in Zurich.

Breakfast is very good and the rooms are comfortable as well. I can highly suggest this hotel!

Yes, the irresistible pro is the location. right in the center of town. 10 minutes slow walk to the lake, 5 to old city, 5 to the main train station, 2 to the main fancy shopping street and right across from all the big department stores.
its old-fashioned in style, which was nice - the staff very friendly like a family-run establishment... and somewhat restrained in its decor - no pictures in the room or corridors, simple and "plain design".
BUT - the room was big and spacious unlike European standards. it was very clean, our room (316) was quiet and peaceful. the room was well heated (we slept with the window open for fresh air and it was lovely), bathroom was clean. bath duck in bathroom and chocolate ducks on the pillows (first night only!) made a nice souvenirs to take home for the kids. breakfast was lovely. good choice of fine food.
CONS? elevator was tiny and old (but gave us no problem). no free wifi in rooms (the option is quite expensive, 15 CHF per 3 hours), there were two computers in the lobby available for guests (but little to none privacy). the towels were thin and small. toiletries provided did not include lotion and conditioner and those supplied (shower gel and shampoo) were not renewed. nor were the coffee-sugar-sweetener.
but all of the above can be easily corrected by approaching the front desk.
maybe our maid had a bad day.
TV is poor and mostly payed for, though we didn't care much about TV.
all in all it was a very good experience. we will definitely come back.

Located strategically just off the highly popular Bahnofstrasse, Seidenoff is a five-minute tram / bus ride from the station. One couldn’t ask for a better location, especially if you want to be doing a lot of shopping. Its proximity to Bahnofstrasse makes the process of dumping shopping bags in the room easier! (Trust me, you’ll need to.) It is also a short walk from the hotel to Lindenhof, a little hill that once housed a Roman fort.

Unfortunately we had a street-facing room on the first floor, which could get a little noisy, but wasn’t much of a problem. The hotel staff was helpful, even calling a taxi for us at an early hour of the morning. It was also one of the few hotels we stayed at in Switzerland that had air-conditioning. Air-conditioning in Switzerland? Yes, you’ll need it in May. The room also had a lovely coffee machine and we were most thrilled to make use of it!

We had dinner at the Asian restaurant ‘Mishio’, which is a pleasant courtyard restaurant. Breakfast was served in the dining area adjoining Mishio. In all, Seidenoff scores high due to its location and the fact that the staff made it all seem so easy.

Overview:
I stayed at this Hotel for a business trip so the location was perfect. It was right in the city center, 2min away from Bahnhofsstr. which is the main high street in Zurich, and 5min from my office.
The first room I was given was clearly a smokers rooms. I was really surprised that such rooms still exists but I managed to change into a non smoker room - make a point of requesting one when booking here unless you are a smoker!

The hotel has a lift which is handy if you have a lot of luggage.

Room:
The room was excellent, very spacious and comfortable. Pretty modern design with everything you need, i.e. mini bar, TV (UK channels!), Internet, a really nice coffee machine. The bed was very comfortable and I had a really good night's sleep.

Food:
The breakfast was very good, offering a variety of continental and cooked styles as a buffet. The restaurant also serves food in the evening but never went and cant comment.

staff:
Very friendly and welcoming.

all in all it was a great stay. i cannot say whether it was priced well compared to other places but I believe it cost CHF230/night which is good for a city center hotel of that standard in Zurich. I would stay again if I went for private trip.
