The strength of this hotel is the nice view from the rooms and it's breakfast with excellent coffee and wide-range of food.
The rooms are very average but clean, and especially single rooms are very small.
Staff is not very flexible, as I had to fight to get a coffee early morning (leaving to the airport) before the restaurant opened.

Pros:
- Great location, beautiful views over Zurich / the lake
- Very large room + balcony (it was a Superior room-- so while I know all of the rooms have balconies, I'm not sure how much smaller a Standard room would be)
- Nice indoor swimming pool + access to an outdoor pool (it is a good 15 minute uphill walk however)
- Excellent service across the board-- my early morning flight was cancelled, I was already at the airport (and hence had checked out), they had no issue with opening my room back up for me and giving me a late check-out (2 p.m.)
- Rooms are reasonably priced (by Swiss standards)
- The restaurant's outdoor terrace is great
- Free wi-fi
Cons:
- The hotel interior (reception area / interior of the restaurant) could do with a refurbish. Ditto with the guest rooms-- relatively modern but 'tired' looking. Frankly I think prices would go up a lot if they do refurbish, so from my own perspective I was fine with this
- Breakfast was okay, but not exceptional by Germany/Austria/Switzerland standards
- Lunch / dinner cuisine-- mixed, I would say best to stick with their European cuisine options (I had Thai one evening, they have a whole section in the menu, and chose the spiciest option....not spicey at all). Fairly pricey, but that's pretty much par for the course in Switzerland
- If you aren't on an expense account taxis too / from the airport (and to downtown if you don't take the tram) will you run up quite a lot
- The bed was way too firm
- If you're looking for young / hip clientele, this is not the place for you. It didn't bother me at all, if anything made it feel even more relazing but (perhaps it was because I was staying in August) almost all of the other guests were rather old (i.e. average age = 60)
Overall, compared with the other hotels I've stayed at in Zurich the pros of this hotel-- particularly in the summertime when you can take advantage of their outdoor space, terrace, etc.-- I much preferred the Dolder Waldhaus. I definitely plan to stay there again the next time I'm in town for business!

I was there with my wife and it was just out of the world. The Zacussi at the SPA overlooking the whole city, the Modern upgraded rooms and public spaces, all were at par with any other best of the best hotels. The Breakfast service was a bit slow but over all the experience was par excellence. The Breakfast room with the al carte breakfast, the bar with an excellent Martini, The Room with the views of Zurich, The B&O system in the rooms.... all made the hotel all add up. For sure excellent for a weekend.

A reasonably nice hotel. Great lake views.
The rooms are very dated, in this 80s pastels look, but clean, and the beds are ok.
The public areas are beautifully done.

Going into Zurich by public transport is not obvious, most people would take taxis but the hotel is next to the Dolder Bahn.

The restaurant is actually quite nice, with good asian food. Pleasant surprise.
Sports facilities are rather minimalist.

The Waldhaus will not become my favourite Zurich hotel, but it was good enough.
