Avoid this at any cost. All rooms are smoking and do smell like! You can not escape the smell and your clothes, pillow, blanket...everything will smell. Hotel in need of serious renovation. Cueue to shower since 7 am. Dark dark place. Dodgy small toilet with no lock. 1 toilet in 2 floors. Do not spoil your stay in Zurich by choosing this hotel!

We had a wonderful stay in this budget hotel. Friendly staff, swiss perfection in the little things like the lightning speed laundry service, excellent location and spacious rooms.

The one thing we missed that should REALLY be available in a hotel that caters for a younger clientelle is decent wireless internet access. Please add that guys!

My girlfriends and I stayed in Zürich for only one evening and decided on the Zic Zack Rock Hotel based on the price. It seemed like we paid a lot for what was offered. We stayed in the room for Queen and the decor was shoddy. I feel like staying in the bathroom of CBGB's in its heyday might've been better.

We had to share a bathroom with the rest of the floor, which is fine, but then I would think it should be called a "hostel" and not a "hotel." The shower was actually broken while we were there and none of us wanted to go to another floor to look, so we just decided that we could live without a shower for an evening. The lighting in the rooms and hotels was not very pleasant and kind of bleak.

The walls in the rooms are REALLY thin. Our neighbors next door set the alarm clock for something like 5:30 in the morning and didn't wake up until about 6:45. The alarm clock actually woke us up because the walls were so thin and the alarm could've been in the same room with us. The wall looked like it had actually just been an open doorway at one time and someone just tacked up some thin material (really thick cardboard?) between the rooms.

Lastly, the lobby reeked of cigarettes. After checking out, we wanted to leave our bags in a locked area so we could hang out in Zürich a little longer before we had to catch our flights, but there was no room to lock our bags in. Instead, we were offered to leave our luggage right there in the lobby and the receptionist said he'd keep an eye on it. We had no other choice and since we had been there only for an evening, there wasn't much to leave. However, there were people who had to leave their ski/snowboarding equipment there and I don't think I would've left my gear there if I were them.

I stayed two nights in this hotel, already prepared to the fact that I had to share bathroom with others. However, it is not a hotel, but a hostel or a camping type of accomodation. My room on the sixth floor was Janis Joplin, very small with dirty carpet and wall. But at least the bed was clean and there was a sink in the room, so I could wash myself. I did not use the shower at all, and prefered to go to other toilets of Zurich. The one at the trainstation was cleaner than this one.
I knew that the quality is not nice at all, but there was no other cheap option for solo traveller in Zurich. However, if you go there for longer stay, never go in this hotel!
