This is a very nice hotel with reasonable prices and freindly staff located next to the university of Zurich.
The rooms on the fifth floor are extremly comfortable and spacy.
I highly recommend it.

The rooms were surprisingly clean and modern, but no AC in August means VERY hot. Even with a fan and open windows, I had trouble sleeping. The Hotel is well located as mentioned in prior posts, and it is priced well.

The receptionist who check us in was not overly welcoming, but she was nice. The receptionist who checked us out, however, was very rude (dark hair in pony tail). She made fun of our apparently idiotic questions about Tram prices and tickets -- in front of other guests. I'm sorry, but not everybody grows up in a city. This was my first time to Europe, first time to Switzerland, and second time to a large city. I'm sure I asked many "stupid" questions, but some things are just not obvious to foreign eyes. She definitely could have employed a bit more tolerance.

Overall, good for a one-night stay in a cool month.

My friend chose the hotel Coronado for because of it's proximity to his flat in Zurich. It's only a 10 min (and I mean exactly 10 minutes because of the timely schedules of the Swiss trams!!) from the central train station on the 14 tram. The tram stop is conveniently right in front of the hotel.

Although we were in late from Milan, the front desk was accommodating. Our room was beautiful! On the top floor, it had big window with sliding doors like skylights in the sloped roof. The bathroom was art! The walls were an opaque plastic that glowed with a blue glow if the wall lights were turned on. The shower was large and modern. The beds were huge and very comfortable with soft pillows. We slept so well there! The room was clean, large, and modernly appointed. Despite the tram stop it was very quiet ( the trams are electric).

The location is in a nice neighborhood of apartments and small homes. Across the street is a wooded park with a running trail of about a mile. The university of zurich is just a short walk, and a nice restaurant serving pizza and swiss specialties is right next door. There is an elevator in this 5 story property.

There is free wifi in the lobby, and the breakfast is very good with hard boiled eggs, various cheeses, cereal, croissants, jellys, coffee and oj. The front desk staff were very nice, they were helpful, and spoke English well.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 days at the Coronado!

I stayed here for a week and had a perfect stay! The lobby staff was very professional and I never had to tell them my room number, since all of them mysteriously knew me from day 1. The room was clean and spacious, with a functional (albeit a bit noisy) AC, and sound-proof.

I would definately go back and my colleagues at ETH Hönggerberg will recommend this to future visitors.
