I stayed there two nights. Had to check out and re-check in because I had made two separate reservations for two room types (single, standard and double, comfort). The reason for that was that I got the rooms at a reduced rate through a special offer on tripadvisor.com and the cheaper room (single, standard) was only available for the first night.
The hotel is small and in a quiet area. It is a 10 minute stroll from Enge railway station (which has direct service to the airport). It is clean and well kept. I didn't make use of any hotel amenities, except for breakfast, so I cannot speak of those. Breakfast was nice: a buffet with the usual stuff (eggs---scrambled and soft boiled, assorted sausages/bacon, cereals, fruits, cheeses, yogurts, bread, etc.) I wish it had some vegetables too (cucumbers, tomatoes, etc.) But I don't really expect those in European or American hotels.
The first night I spent in a single, standard room. It was very small (the smallest I've ever been in) but was newly refurbished and squeaky clean. The bathroom was little more than a tiny walk-in closet. There wasn't even room for a bath, only a shower stall. However, everything was there, clean, and in good working order. The bed mattress was nothing to write home about. Internet wifi was good. There was a balcony with no view to speak of. The "list price" of the room was CHF 330 (approximately EUR 270), which I consider to be exorbitant. Through the special offer I paid EUR 132.50 (including breakfast and all taxes).
The second night I spent in a double, comfort room. This room had decent size---a little bigger than the normal size of a standard room in hotels of this type and price. I don't remember exactly, but I think the standard rate here was CHF 470 (approx. EUR 385). I paid 192.50 (including breakfast and all taxes). This room had more wear and tear than the previous one, but was still in excellent shape. Again, balcony had no view to speak of. The lighting in the room was very dim. (I'm used to dim lighting in hotel rooms, but this was dimmer than usual.) The bathroom was of standard size, included a bath, and had all the usual amenities. Again, all clean and nice. Internet wifi was horrible, making it virtually impossible to get any work (or plain Internet surfing) done.
In short, the hotel is clean and reasonably comfortable, but at its standard rate is not good value.
Last but not least, the nasty surprise I had upon checkout. The special offer stated clearly that payment would have to be made in cash in Euros. No problem; I came prepared with exact change. Well, they don't accept Euro coins. Annoying, but again not a problem; I just overpaid with Euro bills. The change, however, was made in Swiss Francs. When I gave the receptionist a surprised look, her response was "This is Switzerland, sir." Apparently when they take your Euros they're not in Switzerland. So essentially they made me change Euros into Swiss francs at the hotel rate, which I then had to convert back into Euros on my way out of Switzerland. It's not a lot of money, of course, but I don't appreciate this kind of treatment. Needless to say, none of this policy was mentioned in the special offer.
