The reviews of this hotel have been very generous. I read the text, which seems very negative, yet the review is scored as a 3 or 4. Odd...
Anyway, this is a hotel mired firmly in the 70s, with some odd hygene issues to make it more interesting.
On check-in, the lady was astonished (seriously, this was waaay beyond surprised) that I was alone, but had booked a double room. "I like a larger bed" I offered, pathetically. She was almost looking over my shoulder to see whether I was sneaking anyone in.
The room was stifling. No aircon, and a pathetic fan. Also one of the last hotels to still use CRT TVs rather than plasma or LCD.
The room was too small to work in, so I wandered downstairs only to find that there is literally no sitting area. I rejoindered to the bar, where I found myself to be the only patron.
Despite that, the TV was playing at 110db and the barmaid chain-smoked throughout.
I was waiting for two colleagues so resigned myself to waiting in what can only be described as a table and two chairs in the parking lot.
I would definitely describe that parking lot as the nicest and most inviting part of the hotel.
And then we come to the flies. *everything* was coated in flies. The room, reception, bar and "restaurant" (I use the word advisedly) was swarming with flies.
Deep breath... in how many countries have I stayed in a hotel? Maybe 40? How many hotels? Oh... thousands, literally. Where does this come? In the bottom five.
Avoid.
