The Fassbind Agora is a very short walk away from the Lausanne Gare and some fun cafes. That's where it ends for us. The rooms are small but clean. The facility is decorated in somewhat Jetsons style. If you get a good deal, choose this spot. Ask for a higher floor and lake facing rooms to improve the odds of a more pleasant stay.

Company colleagues stay frequently at this hotel since it is near the company branch office in Lausanne. For this same reason, I stayed already twice in this hotel. I have no particular complaints on their "no frills" (non-4 star) room, except that I would favor no carpet, such that I would pick Ibis Lausanne, if I am able to get a room there. The first time I booked a hotel here, there was an ongoing conference in Lausanne, and room price was doubled! To still comply with company regulations on the room price, two of us decided to share a room. And only one breakfast (just to try it out)... and then we decided we will take care of breakfast ourselves, since it was not really special. But all in all, a stay here is fine such that I will stay here if Ibis Lausanne is full.

I really dont know why the hotel calls itself 4 star. The facilities and amenities expected from a 4 star hotel are definitely not present.
Hotel decor is pure 70s and fairly outdated. Carpets are a bit stained, double beds are two singles joined together, tvs have only one or two english channels. Breakfast didnt look appetizing so never ate there. Wifi is 14 CHF a day and has pretty crappy signal strength.
Hotel is a noisy construction site currently so you'll go nuts in your room if you're there between 8am and 6pm.
Staff were friendly and receptive, sheets were clean, as was the washroom. Thats about all that was good. If you're in desperate need for a hotel near the rail station, sure. Otherwise try somewhere else.

Stainless steel entry and fittings did nothing to make us feel comfortable. 2 single beds pushed together when booking a double room. Major building works happening hence NO car park available and noisy. Staff performance left wanting. Good location only real +

- good location, walk distance from the railway station and 3 metro stop to the lake/port.
- we book a superior double room which quite comfortable and clean
- 2 supermarkets close the hotel
- a reasonable price in Switzerland, but we were not in the conference time.

- quite old, need renovation
- a construction site close the hotel, you can hear some noise in the room.
