I have stayed at the Moevenpick as well as in other hotels several times during 2011 on business trips. I preferred the Moevenpick to almost all the other hotels in town.
The rooms are ok, not too big but clean, noisy if on the lake side but quieter on the garden side. Breakfast has a good selection and you would enjoy it but really crowded and the biggest problem is the birds flying around in the breakfast room!!! This is really unacceptable and against all hygienic standards. When I complained to the staff, they told me they know about the problem and I should complain at the management because the staff complained already but the management was not interested. So I complained again at the reception desk but it does not seem to interest anyone. I was more sympathetic in the summer when the garden of the restaurant is open but I stayed there again in November, with doors and windows closed but the birds seem to live inside. It is really not a problem that could not be addressed (put up some curtains, for christ's sake!). anyway, I stopped taking breakfast there - it is expensive anyway for eating only a fruit salad and taking a coffee.
The gym is OK but can be crowded sometimes as it is also open for non-hotel guests.
There is no free wireless internet which I always find ridiculous, especially with those room prices. (Even some 2 and 3 star hotels in Lausanne offer free wifi...).
You can connect your own device with an USB cable to the TV so you can watch your own movies if you want which I find a nice touch. (Just make sure you unplug their cable and plug yours directly to the TV set as with the cable provided I always had some contact problems)
I tried the fish restaurant of the hotel which was of a high standard and served delicious food. The bar is OK for an after-work drink.
