“Close to heaven”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I went to Zermatt to climb in order to prepare for an attempt of Kilimanjaro later in the year. I stayed at the Bellerive Superior for 4 nights and found that it was just what I was looking for. The staff was very helpful making my stay comfortable and enjoyable. They were also experts in finding guides and specialized equipment. The breakfasts were 'Swiss' hearty and tasty, which I took full advantage of. The room I had was clean, quiet, and very functional given all the gear I had to manage. The location provided good access to the lifts, however it was fairly far from the train station. Overall I was very satisfied.

“Great hotel at a reasonable price in a terrific location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

The hotel itself has been _VERY_ charming and is located in a good central location having the train station, the ski lifts, and the restaurants and pubs in walking distance.

The hotel's lobby contains a nice stylish fire place with comfy benches placed around the fire. - A nice place to have a drink before going out or dinner (or before going to bed) or just for reading a book.

Our room was a very nice one with warm wooden floor, a fine bathroom, and a balcony with a view of the top of he Matterhorn.

The breakfast was terrific. Fresh squeezed orange juice, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, yogurt, cereals, different juices, roast beef, different kinds of swiss cheese from the local area, sparkling wine, ...

The hotel's wellness area is very nice as well: A fine sauna, a steam chamber, a whirlpool, and a separated room with cosy beds for resting helps you to get the chill out of your bones after a long ski-day on Little Matterhorn at -25 degrees Celsius. ;-)

And last but not least the hotel's staff has been very friendly and helpful, and took care to make our stay pleasant one.

“Excellent hotel - great little touches”

It was 3 of us travelling to Zermatt for a short 2-day trip and somewhat at the last minute. We were happy to find this hotel. The staff was very nice and the breakfast buffet was standard Zermatt/Swiss fare (quality and quantity). The room itself was very comfortable, albeit the bathhroom a little outdated (typical Swiss in my opinion), and the third bed was essentially a pull-out twin mattress (okay for a day or two but probably not for longer stays unless it is for a child). The room had a nice LCD TV and DVD player with a very extensive DVD library (free) in the lobby - this was a great touch that I wish other hotels would have. The wellness center is a good size for the overall number of guests and everything in it worked well. I think they turn everything off after 9pm so go earlier. There was a ski room in the basement which was convenient although anyone could get in the door from the outside so they could benefit from a lock on it. It was a very short walk to the e-bus (but you have to go down a set of stairs to the river to catch it) and a very short ride to the lifts. Ultimately, the hotel is very convenient (mind you most places are since Zermatt is so small). One of the best features, for a skiier, is an interactive display in the lobby that tells you which slopes are open even before you leave the hotel - fantastic idea.

I would definitely stay there again. The price was extremely reasonable considering everything you got.

“excellent ski hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

It was our first time staying in Zermatt and we made a great choice in the hotel Bellerive.
The location is excellent.
The rooms are modern -wooden floors- flat screen tv's and they are really warm. The beds and pillows were great.
You can hire your ski's from Azurra Sport- turn left as you exit the hotel- its 30 metres and the Italian owners are so helpful and friendly. Be nice to them and they give a good price.
The bus stop is literally 40 to 50 metres walk- so close when carrying skis- and the buses take you to all three main ski lifts. So it's easy to get around to ski and to hire and to return the ski's.
The main street is not more than a 3-4 minute walk and we actually quite liked being a little off the main street as its attractions were easily obtainable but we could have some quiet if we wanted.
We enjoyed the Bellerive's jacuzzi and steam and sauna area at the end of each day.
Breakfast was very good. The only negative for us was getting food for the kids at night but the hotel offers free dvd's and so the kids were occupied while we went to get takeaways.

Room Tip: ask for a view of the Matterhorn

“Wellness hotel in comfortable situation, good service, clean and nice rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

We stayed here for one week in January for skiing. It's excellent as you can ski to the train that will take you to the mountain in 5 to 10minutes and you can then ski right to the hotel. The reception looks very modern and nice and the whole hotel is very clean and modern. Rooms are of average size, nice bathrooms, with TV, free wifi in the hotel, an iPhone docking station and DVD reader. The hotel offers you iPads to use free of charge, as well as 600 DVDs to use free of charge. Breakfast buffet was good, but not with an exceptional choice. Wellness (yakuzi, sauna and hamam as well as a rest room) can be used from 2pm to 9pm without surcharge. Ski rooms downstairs. You can buy ski tickets at the reception. Service is very good. Wide choice in minibar. Big wardrobe to put clothes in. Overall a very good *** superior hotel in zermatt with nice service, good price-performance ratio and excellent extras. Negative: without restaurant, but bar. Full-board is being provided by restaurant next door.
Definitely something we will use again in zermatt.
