“Don't let the ranking fool you - Le Petit = Value for money”

We stayed at the hotel for one night last week and we certainly enjoyed our stay very much!

This little hotel is located off the main street, once you get off the Zermatt station, you can hire a taxi or walk along the main street for around 10 mins till you see church on your left, make a right turn when you see a fried-chicken shop on your right, continue a bit uphill for two blocks, you will see this bright little yellow building on your left.

The interior deco is nice and simple but modern and new. We were greeted professionally at the front desk and was given helpful info about the gondola etc. Everything in this hotel is smaller, but it's actually more cozy and homey of all the hotels we have stayed in Swiss. Other pluses include the full continental breakfast, super fast wi-fi for free.

For those who expect grand entrance or 5 * facilities, this is not the place, but fir those looking for clean comfy room with a bargain, this little place is more than sufficient. And for me, I'd definitely stay here again next time!

“What a Bargain! Ski bumming without slumming.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Nice single room. Quite small, but with a large and remarkably comfortable bed. En-suite bathroom with shower and toilet, all recently refurbished. Genuinely free wifi. My room was a little dark perhaps; a torch was useful for retrieving my ski top du jour from the back of the wardrobe. Breakfast was simple but more than adequate. Staff friendly and helpful.

Location? Well it is in the middle of Zermatt, on a side road just off the main street, not out in the suburbs, but getting to the lifts does require a bit of a walk, a bus ride, or one of Zermatt’s notorious electric taxis (aagh! Those damned electric taxis: don’t get me started. I ended up wanting to kill the taxi drivers, but fair’s fair, they tried often enough to kill me). But I can’t see how any hotel in Zermatt can be said to have a good location; the lift stations are spread out across the town, so no matter where you stay, you’ll probably have to start most ski days with a walk, bus or taxi. Zermatt’s a bit like Chamonix: ski in ski out it ain’t.

So basically, everything a committed skier needs for a ski holiday in Zermatt, and no unnecessary frills. So why do I recommend this hotel so heartily? The price. Single room B&B here cost me just 95 Swiss Francs per night. Yes, you heard me correctly. That would be cheap almost anywhere in Western Europe, but for a hotel in the middle of Zermatt? One of the most expensive ski resorts in the world? A bargain, to say the least. And it isn’t as if you need to slum it to stay here – everything that really matters in a hotel is more than adequate at Le Petit.

“Very good quality vs. relative price”

I liked our room a lot and was positively surprised by the condition of the bathroom. Breakfast was more hostel-type of breakfast and the english skills of some employees rather limited (everybody was really helpful despite communication problems).

“Small but great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Stayed at this hotel for a long snowboard weekend. The location was right in the middle of the two main lifts. As to the name of the hotel is spot on. It is a very small hotel. Most of the rooms fit 2 people cozy, with some of the larger rooms up to 3. The breakfast was a typical european breakfast but we where able to take some bread and jam with us for the inbetween snacks on longer days. The staff was amazing, extremly helpful. Had great recomendations on places to eat and things to see. Over all this was a great place to stay and i will be going back to this hotel.

“Good value! We will definitely stay there again on our next visit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

Our trip up to Zermatt and Gornergrat was amazing! Two of the best days of my life! This lovely hotel is just 10 minutes walk from the train station (few minutes walking distance from the church), but we took a taxi-electric car (no cars in Zermatt!), because we had 2 big lagguages for one month Transatlantic Cruise to South America, after Switzerland.
We were there 2-3 hours before the check in, but Tonny - from the reception and everybody was very friendly and our room was ready.
We found the room ''le petit'' (but this should be expected) and comfortable, very clean and very good for the weekend we were in town.
The Continental breakfast was excellent. There was a choice of cereals, fresh fruit, ham, cheese, fresh bread, yogurts, coffee, hot milk and chocolate, orange juice....
The Internet service is free and from our room on 4th floor we had very quick access to the web (from the laptop).
On the roof terrace there is some sun lounges and tables, and you can get a clear view of the Matterhorn in the background.
We took a train to Gornergrat, and that was a great experience, so we had an enjoyable time in Zermatt!
For the value and service, the Le Petit Hotel was a great stay and we would recommend it to all. We will definitely stay there again on our next visit!!
