“Great view, great value, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2011

I don't really have anything negative to say about this place - it suited all our needs. We stayed here while on a budget ski vacation. However this hotel is great value and the location is certainly adequate. You can pretty much walk anywhere in Zermatt.
This hotel is about 10 min walk to the train station/main square - we did it carrying our ski bag and backpacks on each of our backs as opposed to taking the electric taxis. Its about a 3-5 min walk along Wiestistrasse to the ski gondola which was great. There are plenty of restaurants, shops and grocery stores scattered throughout Zermatt and its a nice walk to anywhere in the village.
The room had a great view of the Matterhorn, was large, clean, quiet, had a large wardrobe buffet, tv, comfy bed, nice sheets, large bathroom, and there is wifi throughout the hotel contrary to a couple of the posts. There is also a shared computer in the main foyer.
The staff were very friendly - the girl at the front desk always greeted us whenever we passed by.
The ski room downstairs is big and has a ski boot warmer. There is also outside access but is locked at night, so secure.
Breakfast was more than adequate. There is lots to choose from - cold meats & cheeses, cereals, boiled eggs, an espresso machine, different breads and pastries. They appear not to be using the restaurant at night, so dinner is found at one of the many other places in town.
If you aren't going for one of the super fancy spa places in Zermatt, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

“Great value for money and fantastic view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2011

Great value for money. Was the cheapest hotel in zermatt I could find and will return again. Is located 10 min walk from the main train station, although part of the journey is uphill. A taxi costs CHF 17. Two 30 year olds managed to carry a suitcase and ski equipment each but it was hard work. Staff provided a very warm welcome and breakfast was good. Free internet in reception also good. The best bit was our room- we had a Matterhorn view and a terrace to sit on. The room was large and clean, although the carpet is a bit grubby and could do with replacing. Bathroom ok, bit outdated but fulfiles needs. Ski room downstairs big. If looking for a cheap place to stay in Zermatt I would recommend Hotel Primavera.

“Excellent staff and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2010

Our extended family - group of 18-stayed at Hotel Primavera this summer on-off over a week. The staff was extremely accommodating to our needs and helpful in suggesting hiking trips around Zermatt.

“Nice place to stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2010

The location is good, about a 10 minute walk from the centre of town. As Zermatt is quite a small town, everything is well within walking distance. The rooms are basic but nice though there was a shower curtain in the bathroom which I hate as they always stick to the body & to make matters worse there was a curtain on the window made of the same material so taking a shower involved being assaulted on two sides by these horrrible curtains! Some rooms have a fantastic view of the Matterhorn though which is stunning (though be aware the mountain may be covered by clouds).

The staff were very pleasant & helpful. For example, we requested extra pillows & they arrived within 10 minutes. There was no WiFi but there was a computer with free internet access in the lobby for customer use. The reception is unmanned from 9-10pm so it is essential to bring the room key out with you in the evening as this also unlocks the front door. Otherwise you could presumably be locked out for the night. Breakfast was continental & perfectly acceptable.

Not surprisingly there is no air conditioning, but it is easy & safe to leave the window open & there is no noise in the vicinity to keep you awake during the night.

“Great value, view of the Matterhorn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2010

Spent one night at Hotel Primavera. Less than 10 min walk from the train station.
Good value for Zermatt. We had a great view of the Matterhorn from our balcony.
Room was nothing fancy, but adequate. We did not spend much time in the room, basically to sleep only, but it was clean and comfortable. The staff was very pleasant, and kept our bags safe after checkout for several hours, while we continued to explore Zermatt.
There was also a computer in the lobby with free internet.
