“Rude Hostess & Employees”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2007

I am writing from the hotel right now. After reading the reviews i booked this hotel but i have to say that just because of the hostess and employees i will have to rate this hotel as my worst experience in Switzerland. The rooms are okay, TVs do not work and the employees are not friendly when you complain about it. Infact when we complain they say that it is not their problem (as if it is the fault of the guest after paying 185 francs for a room).

Just ignore this hotel when you visit Zermatt if you have any other option available.

“good value :P”

first time i'm a bit affraid what hotel looks like? bc there are few reviews.

but when i opened the door i found it's good value for 3 star hotel
as you can see from my photos

I really like bathroom bc it's very clean

breakfast.....delicious

service...good to best

oh one good thing is that this hotel is near the ski/snowboard school and bayard(just for sale) and you can walk around 5 min from train station

i recommend to rent all ski/snowboard stuffs at Bayard opposite train stations (big and complete both ski set and clothes)

******************************************************************
anyway, the disadvantages are that

there is no storage room for keeping luggages after check out, however, all luggages still stay in the same place and not lost

the hotel is saved fire energy bc they all are closed automatically and you need to press them many times

“Wonderful hotel”

My family and I stayed at this lovely hotel a few weeks ago. We knew that our trip would be wonderful the moment we got on the train to Zermatt from Brig. The scenery was fantastic! So, it didn't matter where we stayed.
But, once we arrive at the hotel, our stay was made even more enjoyable by the hotel staff. The woman at the front desk maybe was the owner. She was very nice and beyond helpful.
Our room was wonderful. It was a little larger than a typical European room. The bathroom was big. Also, the plug is dual wattage so U.S. appliances will work there. However, a converter was also available to guests if needed.
My parents were in a corner room with a balcony that overlooked the street. It was wonderful to sit outside with a nice glass of wine enjoying the views.
The breakfast was plentiful and varied. There is also a computer with internet access which is quite convenient.
The location was very convenient. A short walk from the train station. The town itself is very compact. Most shops are located on the main street. But, if you walk on the other side of the river, there is more shopping.
Zermatt is a beautiful town, but food is quite expensive. To save a few bucks, we would buy water and snacks at the grocery store. When you come into town, you will see the COOP grocery store. We found cheaper grocery stores off the main street towards the river.
We enjoyed Zermatt very much.

“A word of warning”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 May 2006

I regret that I had a most disagreeable experience with this hotel. Having booked online for a week with my two teenage children in April 2006, we arrived to find the room offered to us was impossibly small for three people. The hotel management anticiipated this. They immediately offered an alternative with more space and, inevitably, at a higher price. Having initially agreed, within an hour I decided this was just unacceptable and decided to change hotels. In a difficult exchange with the hotel owner I paid 150 Euro cash in compensation. I found later that the hotel deducted, without warning, a further 165 Euro from my credit card. There was no prior warning of such a penalty. There is no cancellation information published on the web site. While I recognise a cancellation can cause inconvenience that should be compensated, it is completely unacceptable for money to be deducted directly from a credit card without due notice. In most countries, including Switzerland, that is regarded as theft. I am, of course, virtually powerless to challenge this action without incurring even more expense, but prospsective visitors should be warned that promises made on booking may not be delivered and that the company is not beyond behaviour that is unworthy of any reputable hotel.

“Delightful hostess”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2005

We started our trip on a wrong foot, missing our flight. Other hurdles appeared from nowhere - couldn't reach Zermatt on the first night and instead had to stay over in Visp, the forecast for the next day was dim, train from Visp broke down in St Nikalaus!!

So when we arrived at Zermat, some 15 hours late, we were pleased to find this cute hotel very close to the station. In fact the hotel is close to everything, including the cable cars to Matterhorn. The hostess was warm from the begining. Even though we had arrived past the breakfast time she still tried to fetch us whatever was available. Her directions on what to do and where to trek and the weather predictions were far better than the local tourist office.

Mary made our short stay in Zermatt, a yearning for more.

It is a nice and comfortable Hotel with a delightful hostess.
